    Things went sideways real fast.

Be careful of Black Friday scams. I ordered my wife expensive jewelry for Christmas and instead I received a new deer rifle and 6 boxes of ammo.

Yeah Amazon is really bad about that. They told me that their packaging and shipping department avoids shipping out things they know wives hate.

Turned in my grades for the 3 classes I taught this semester early this morning. It's not all of my end-of-semester work that is required, but it's the biggest one, and the one that keeps students off my back. I'll do the rest this weekend. Final Exam was last night, closed at midnight, so turning them in a few hours after the exam is something that makes me feel good. And tired.

    Re: Last Post Wins

Not so proud moment I'm going to tell on myself. Maybe it will be a warning to others.

When gmail first came out, I grabbed fantastic email addresses, business and personal. My personal one is so good I receive numerous misdirected emails from others (usually with my last name) who typo or leave out a character (mine is first initial/last name). I wish I had included a number of something. Too late now.

Most of the time I just hit delete. Sometimes it is pretty sensitive information and I try to let them know. Sometimes it is just annoying when I get six emails every time somebody's Kia is ready for a quarterly oil change (not kidding), and there's no way to opt-out. No unsubscribe button. No confirmation link initially (double opt-in) required. Anybody can give any email address, and they'll just run with it.

I let the company know through a separate email address. Again and again and again, at least 3 times. Never stopped.

So today I get a customer survey about the last visit. I blast the company, and include a recitation of the misdirected email which I just hit "copy and paste" numerous times every time there is a comment section. I just randomly click bad grades throughout.

    I didn't think it through.

I received a nice email from the company's service advisor, copying management, apologizing for what I had been through for these many months. But then confessed that I had harmed their job with the reviews.

They told me they would re-send a survey and asked for me to regrade them.

I did not mean to harm anyone. I just wanted to get their attention. Apparently I did both of those things.

I replied back and told them it was a shame that was what it took to get their attention, but I had no intent to harm anyone, and I would fix it if they would re-send the survey. I then went into why it was an awful idea to include customer information on emails --even if their customer provided it -- without the double opt-in confirmation email link, and/or an unsubscribe button/link.

Before I send clients emails, I get a confirmation email back from them, or I require them to send me an email first. It's a minimal step to take place before substantive information occurs. Of course, I keep really confidential information out of emails, but that's another level.

But I do feel badly about the bad marks.

It sounds like they deserved to get in trouble, and you went above and beyond by redoing the survey for them. I usually just send them to the spam folder.

Well, the lady told me that it actually put her job in jeopardy. May be full of you know what. But I don't think it hurts to "fix" what I did, even if she's full of it. Given the potential for harm as described, it's the lesser of the evils to just fix it.

Anti-spam legislation and corporate policies, she may have been shooting you pretty straight.
Then again if they had ignored your pleas to remove the email address you were sending it from, they probably did deserve some of the heat their seat was getting.
The company I work for is a pretty large concern and we have to take the LERN modules yearly to make sure we are up to date & up to snuff on such things.

    Re: Last Post Wins

Just to be clear, the survey was on how the visit went, how the service advisor treated them, etc. I was irritated, so I just clicked no on everything, which was an awful service rating, and impacted an employee. I never intended to do that, so that's why I'm going to fix it.

The service advisor wasn't responsible for the multitude of emails I've received for months from this company. I have also marked it spam, but it evades the spam filter anyway, possibly because it is so specifically directed.

I just "love" this weather fluctuation. I don't know if it causes illness or not, but it got warm all of a sudden last week and when it did, I got sick. Might as well blame the weather...

My sinuses will be charged. Either with reckless homicide, manslaughter or premeditated murder. But they are getting charged.
