She's ALWAYS got to be toughing stuff......

My wife, God bless her, is at it again! Between her and her overseas family, we're going to be in a real bind next year when our homeowners and auto insurance policies come up for renewal.

Last year, when her oldest bother visited us here, he brought half his family with him, to include 3 teenage granddaughters. Said teenage granddaughters, on their last day here, one of them anyway, left the water running in the upstairs bathroom and caused to sink to overflow, which in turn caused water to run over and out onto the floor, out into the hallway and into a spare bedroom, which in turn leaked through the floor all the way down to the garage, the downstairs spare bedroom, and the kitchen. Causing about $40,000 worth of damage to a part my house. Which my homeowners insurance covered in repairs. And which costed me when my policy renewed.

Last night, she's 2 minutes from the house, 2 MINUTES FROM THE HOUSE, and she starts messing with the climate controls in her car, which caused her windshield to immediately fog up, interfering with her ability to see, whereupon she rear ends the car in front of her, making the front end of her car both now wrecked AND inoperable. All because she just can't keep her hands off of stuff while she's driving. And the car she hit? The husband of one of her Filipina friends that lives down the street from us, literally just doors away. On the same street.

The cost of property/homeowners/auto insurance is already outrageously high here in Florida, outrageously high, among the highest in the nation, and now I have to deal with this nonsense. And it's not like the state legislature is going to even try to provide the homeowners of Florida a reasonable, viable remedy, no, everything they do they claim is going to help ends up costing homeowners more money, as in, for example, the condominium inspection bill that they put forth which now has raised insurance rates so high for condo owners that those poor people can't afford their condos now. And the rest of us? Well, the state legislature and the insurance companies are busy working on ways to mess over property owners over again, I'm sure, we just haven't found out about it yet.

And now my wife pulls this stupid stunt! Which is going to cost us even more money on our insurance premiums next year. I'm pretty much besides myself right now. Between her family and her dumb stunt, our insurance is going to be exorbitant next renewal. And that's if they don't cancel us! Which, if they do, opens up a whole other can of worms.

All 3 of her bothers & their wives are planning to visit us next year about this time. I've already told them all that they and their spouses are welcome, but I don't want any more teenage or younger kids in my house.

Okay, apologies everyone. Rant over. I had to vent somewhere, thank God for you guys here, even though I should've just kept my mouth shout.

Sorry to hear, Suncat. If it's not one thing, it's always another.

Cheaper to put the kids up in a hotel, with really nice amenities…then you’ll be a hero.

I get it. I feel like 90% of my time is taken up by fixing issues created by other people.
