Tornado Damage
Got lucky. Had one go over us. For me, mostly cosmetic house damage. Other homes...not as lucky.
Question: Any advice in dealing with insurance?

Re: Tornado Damage
When I was a kid nothing scared me other than tornados. I was a very young kid on April 3, 1974, and watched the tornados go overhead from our driveway. Destroyed Campbellsville Ky, we drove through it later, as a kid scared me to death. THey are so very random.
Glad you are OK, they can spare you or level you, and only the good Lord knows.
As for insurance, not much to do but deal with your agent and adjuster. I have local insurance and that's why, I want an office I can call and they know me and make money on me, so they are motivated to keep my business.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Re: Tornado Damage
I'm in Owensboro, in the Diamond Lake area. In the last couple of episodes, we've had three touch down within two miles. Don't know if it matters, we live on a reclaimed stripper pit with about a 100' foot high wall about 250' feet behind us. All flat land until to where the system runs into that wall.

Re: Tornado Damage
I was a 4 yo in Cville at the time. Don't remember but parents pointed out the damage for years. We bought a farm near the lake in 1991 or so and the damage in the woods was still apparent.
Now, our NC Mtn took a direct hit from Helene and I can see why the damage was still apparent in Taylor Co all those years later.

Re: Tornado Damage
I was a bit older, not much.
Some of the images of Campbellsville I won't forget. One in particular was one of the neighborhoods there which was hit hard, there was a two story house that had a carport with the house built out over it. The tornado left the house, the roof, but took out the supports on the carport and had pulled the whole house over on its side where the carport supports had been. It looked like if you took a Monopoly house and just put it on its side. At that age it was one of the strangest and spookiest things i had seen.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.
