Had a runny nose for a couple of days, some coughing and fatigue. Then started feeling better but my senses of taste and smell took very brief vacations. (Missing a sense of taste is a very strange feeling. I could tell the texture of the food but nothing else.)
I’m pretty much back to normal and my quarantine time has ended, but I’m still hesitant about going out.

Not trying to convince anyone, but as of yesterday, my 5 children, ages 21-32, including my daughter who is expecting twins (I can say that now), my wife and I, and my son-in-law, all have our booster shots. My daughter is a pediatric oncologist nurse practitioner, her husband a pediatric cardiology pharmacist, and my middle daughter spent a stint as a Covid-ICU nurse for the entire 2020 year (and is one semester away from her master's in nurse educator degree), so we feel comfortable with our decisions.
Per guidance from Pedro, our 21-year old son took it easy (in fact, he *was* sedentary lol) since getting his booster last week.
My 29 year old son and I cross-vaccinated, with two Pfizer shots followed by Moderna. My 32-year old daughter and her husband were 3x Moderna. The rest of us were 3x Pfizer.
I was getting more concerned about my 22-year old daughter, who lives in New York, and sometimes sees some pretty good crowds. Her booster was yesterday (it's pretty hard to find in her area in the Hudson Valley).
My only advice to everyone is to make the best decision you can for yourself and your family. Everyone is different, but just take care, please.
I did 2 regular pfizer and 1 pfizer booster, 1 pneumonia, 1 flu, 1 shingrex, and a distemper jab.
I think I am still in great shape.

Glad to hear everyone in your family got their booster! Also glad that he took/is taking it easy. A lot of good data out now that boosted mRNA vaccines are very effective at preventing infection by Omicron and even more so at preventing symptomatic outcomes.
I thought I was bad with having my 3 Moderna, flu, and Hep B booster (for work).
Donna tested positive with a home test today. She cant walk much because her legs feel like lead she says. Sniffles and slight congestion yesterday and today. Been in bed for most of the time since yesterday evening when her legs started to bother her. Not pain just heavily weighted down feeling.
She has continued to refuse vaccinations as has her family, including their 90 year old Father.
They were all together early yesterday.
I feel great but have had some slight symptoms for a week or so but honestly nothing I don't almost always deal with (allergies and such). I'm fully moderna'd.
We will see, as we wait for her Doc to call her back. We both still have taste and smell. As a matter of fact.."I have to eat so I can take my back pills!

The FDA gave EUA authorization to this pill today, meaning Pfizer can start shipping it to where it is needed. While supply will be limited through the end of the year (only 180,000 courses ready to ship) it is going to be a huge game changer as they bring more contract manufacturing online.

Thanks to Sky and others who pushed the antibodies infusion. I told Donna she needed those and she agreed. That day her lungs showed signs Of Covid, her vitals were all over the place, and she was pretty sick. After most of the day in the ER she was able to receive the infusion around 5pm. (and after much work to get it for her by the ER doctor due to the shortage)
Her breathing was scary that night and I was very concerned. I woke at five to hear her breathe without congestion and she steadily improved until the second night when her breathing duration returned to normal and her strength came back.
Before testing positive there was no way she would have agreed to it. Such a close call is a rude awakening. She is close to well and I myself tested negative last night. That after a week completely exposed to her bout with Covid without personal isolation. We’ll test her again in a day or two.
Vaccines work. Prayer makes vaccines work better.

Thanks for the good update, kingcat. I have been concerned for my friends here since Keith. There is good info here on our board thanks to The Great One. I urge everyone to read and follow. The antibody infusion worked very much like that for me.
Also, I can report to Dan that I am closer to my “ideal weight” due to 2 weeks of covid and my previous chemo. My strength and stamina is far from ideal. Practically non-existent. I have a warm house and friends looking out for me including shoveling snow and dropping off groceries. These are the blessings of community. So are you all on here, a community.
That is great news kingcat. I am tremendously thankful that your wife decided not to push her limits any further than she did and that she had a doctor that worked hard on her behalf to get her the treatment she needed to survive.
bigsky, it is a blessing to have friends in the community that care enough about you that they will share their time and efforts with you. That is a rotten way to achieve a weight loss, but as you know it does work.

Strangely enough, I’ve been doing well the last few weeks, but yesterday my sense of taste disappeared for a few hours. Otherwise, I 3as fine, but my taste has returned and I’m pretty much back to normal (well, health-wise, LOL) but missing a sense of taste is a strange, strange sensation

By the way, it was her ER doctor who went to bat for her in getting the antibodies. There is a shortage in Hardin and some surrounding counties I was told.
Her normal physician was not so helpful. She called Donna Tuesday night to tell her to be at the office at 8 AM and she would manage to see her because although they were booked up.. she was concerned about her symptoms and positive test.
We were there but the doctor was a no show and a nurses assistant handled things.
She told us to head to the ER because her BP was dangerous at 60/40. Remember, Donna walked in alert and was feeling decent at that time.
When there, the ER doctor looked at Donna (after she said she didnt feel that bad), and said..
"BP 60/40?...I do not believe them. You would have been semi-conscious"

I will say I had a friend who had BP that low at times and was still alert and functioning, so it is possible. She would drop to the low 60s/40s and definitely feel tired and foggy, but not so much as to be semi-conscious.

Perhaps it was more that her blood pressure was not nearly that low nor did she feel any different when we got to the ER. That's what he said however.
I sure thought there should have been at least a real nurse available when the Doctor herself made the 8 AM appt. Not a nursing assistant.
She (Doc) told her she was concerned and wanted to see her before her day started.
My grandmother when in her 80's use to flatline and wake up fussing as they were taking her to the ambulance. Done it a few times..
She would really let anyone have it denying anything was wrong. She coudn't see nor hear much.
Eventually they diagnosed the problem as an electrolyte imbalance.

My family attended a Christmas party in Clewiston on December 18th, and then my daughter drove my son and me home to Titusville, as she had to work at the hospital the next day. My wife stayed over for the night in Clewiston.
My daughter worked the next day, Sunday, and when she returned to her apartment that night, she complained to me of some fatigue, a slight cough and a slight sore throat. She was scheduled to work the next day, but called out and then asked me to go to the drugstore to pick up a Covid-19 test kit. I purchased it at CVS, drove to her apartment in Orlando and put it by her front door. After I left she picked it up and then used it. She told me that the in-home kit usually takes about 15 minutes or so to show positive. She told me hers showed positive in less than two minutes. She then had the PCR test done the next day, and she was indeed positive.
My daughter is very, very cautious at work, as are the rest of the people that she works with at the hospital. My son and I were in the confined spaces of her car for approximately three hours on the drive home, but we both are fine and have had no symptoms. She believes that she was exposed at the hospital. I think she told me she has to continue her quarantine at home until New Year's Day.
No matter how careful or cautious we are, at some point most of us are going to catch this garbage. I will be eligible for the booster in March, and I intend to get it then.

Glad to hear she is doing better, sounds like the monoclonal infusion might have saved her life! Keep testing yourself as well, it can take 5-7 days for the virus to reach levels where they show on a rapid test.
Sorry to hear about your daughter. We had a friend with whom we had dinner on the 15th let us know on the 21st that he tested positive. We got tested and were solidly negative at 7 days post exposure. So far he has just been tired as all get out but nothing more severe (he was vaccinated but not boosted). That was our first close call that we know of within our small group of friends which we hang out with.

My close call story is too long to tell right now, but my GF's brother just lost his wife to it with a blood clot, and she tested positive at the hospital, but he and his daughter, who have both shown flu like symptoms, have yet to get tested. Really? Can't even get tested? They're actually doing it today, but she's been in care a week and was sick for a week or so before that. In my quick reading it seems that blood clotting is a possible symptom, and they all had the other regular symptoms, but dismissed it without a test. I just don't get it.
Long story, but right now they are in town (live in NC, wife is at Duke), but we aren't going to go visit b/c we just don't know their status at this point. They've had it probably long enough to not be contagious I suppose, but given his more cavalier attitude about it I'm still nervous. We feel bad for not going, but not comfortable with the alternative either when the exposure is otherwise unnecessary.
And Pedro, you have been unbelievably generous and helpful to this entire board. I know I speak for everyone when I express how grateful we are for your insights and explanations and patience. I feel like I have a cheat-sheet to this debacle, a place I can go to really get a grasp on the Covid issue of the day. It's been invaluable.

I haven’t ventured over to this forum in a long time. Sorry to see that several of you have been dealing with this virus. Prayers for recovery for each of you and your family.
My family has been, vaxed, boosted and cautious but it finally happened. My college age daughter tested positive yesterday. She has a mild case and will be fine. The other 3 of us tested negative but I’m doubt we will be able to avoid it. I had an afternoon last week where I had cold like symptoms. I took an at home test and it was negative. I’m wondering if I had a false negative. Honestly, At this point, I would almost prefer to have had it and had the mild symptoms that I had. Seems like Omicron is going to infect a lot if not most of us.
