Montana goes deep red, and why
The President won easily. But the Senate race, which was driven by 160 million dollars of campaign spending, was the democrats at their most nasty and negative. My friend Steve Daines, the incumbent republican, was challenged by the current Governor, termed out, Steve Bullock, who was personally recruited by Chuck Schumer after saying for years he would not run for Senate. Mr Bullock had run for president, during that run he tried to appeal to other states' democrats by new to him policies like confiscating semi automatic firearms. He and Chuck also brought nasty, negative, name calling, and mostly all "not approved by any candidate or party" television ads and mailers to the Senate race.
After the incredible nastiness of the campaign, many, many Montanans, who tend to vote purple, voted a straight red ticket. This was despite some bad candidates in various races. Trump's margin was a little larger, but in general, everyone won 55-45 or slightly better.
Steve Daines became the very first Republican Senator in Montana to win re-election. And practically every other republican won too. Montana blows a kiss to New York Chuck, and now has a Republican Governor for the first time in 16 years. Republicans swept both houses of the legislature, and all statewide races like Secretary of State and Attorney General.
We've always been a ticket splitting, purple voting state. Steve Bullock changed that, maybe forever.

Montana was destined by the Dems to turn deeper red. Pro 2A and pro life Dems have become an endangered species. The state senator here locally is very solid pro 2A and votes that way in Frankfort.

Unfortunately the kingdom of Louisville hires their own Democrat to represent them in Washington.

Senator Daines was on the Kudlow show just now discussing the Big Beautiful Bill and how they are trying to get it passed by convincing a few Rinos to get on board and vote correctly. The SALT tax reductions are killing any chance of getting votes from Cali, NY, IL, and MN, which kills the chances of getting those votes. But Daines seems to be working his butt off to drag the votes in for passage.

No Montana Senator or Representative will vote for wholesale sale of national land, in my opinion. That is NOT to say a town landlocked by national forest or BLM (Bureau of Land Managment, not the other one...) could not purchase a piece to grow. But the "let's sell national forest and BLM or BuRec land for affordable housing" is mostly smokescreen.
Also, at some point, $37 trillion and up will force sales. I prefer selling the District of Columbia, myself.
