Question for the fans in Alabama

I am looking for opinions. Senator Tubberville is becoming a popular congressman to answer questions and offer his opinion about political matters on TV programs, on internet podcasts and in some rare cases in print.

Is he doing a good job for Alabama?
Is he doing a good job for the nation?

you can just answer yes or no or if you would like to expound on your thoughts, please feel free to extrapolate.

Thanks for any input or specific opinions

Re: Question for the fans in Alabama

Interesting pair of question. I would say yes to both. Remember when he blocked the military promotions? I believe he thoroughly knew what was going on in a defense department that was out of control, doing as they pleased. DOGE seems to be proving him to be on the right side of the issue. The 450 military promotions he blocked are small compared to what Musk is doing.

as far as what he is doing for Alabama, I don't think it is much. he is leading the effort to bring Space Command tp Alabama. He is much better than our Junior Senator who scares the hell out of me. At best she is a puppet.

If someone asked me about Mitch McConnell, I would say Yes and No. Ask me the same question about Rand Paul, I would have to say maybe, and maybe.

you know, this is an interesting question that ties back to the 17th Amendment. The original focus of a US Senator totally changed.

By design of the founding fathers the Senators were supposed to solely represent the needs and viewpoints of the State they elected and were previously appointed by the State Legislature (primarily) or the Governor is some states. By making them directly elected they are not longer really the voice of the State Government, they have become "super" Congressmen. The 17th Amendment BROKE the model.

So now we see Senators take on a National Perspective vs what is good for their state.

Virginia Cat lots of sentiment in MT to repeal the 17th among conservatives. That would be back towards a republic.

It has been that way since I started following governments both state and federal, and I have never appreciated that approach to government.

And I agree with this 100%! Repealing the 17th Amendment, or at least this portion of it, would be the best thing for all Americans.
