    Your favorite "alt" Christmas movies

I figured few if any of what I like among "holiday" movies would make a normal list. So here are some of mine:

Bad Santa - Yes it is on Darrell's list on the other thread, I was surprised.

    Die Hard

    Lethal Weapon (Done at Xmas)

Trading Places (come on, Dan Akroyd in the Santa suit eating salmon)

    Gremlins

Heavy Metal (It's on every movie list I make)

Curious if anyone has any others which aren't normal.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

    Trading Places.
The Godfather Vito gets shot while Michael and Kate are at “The Bells of St Mary’s and he’s buying fruit for Christmas.
    Of course “Die Hard”
    Gremlins
    All good Christmas movies.

And Arnold S is in a movie about the antichrist that happens at Christmas I think.

I like Die Hard but I’ve never seen it as a Christmas movie (ducks).

Trading Places was great. Every time Winthrop plays someone in basketball I still say ‘It was the Dukes!’

Ours is going to be way off and maybe not what you would consider "alt"

We watch "Holiday Affair" every Christmas Eve. Sappy old B&W movie with Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh.

Was wondering if that would make anyone's list.

The documentary thing is a real question apparently

Trading Places--I know everybody said it, but I love that movie.

(BTW, in Eddie Murphy's first 2 years of making movies he did 48 HRS, Trading Places and Beverly Hills Cop. Just amazing.)

L.A. Confidential (movie kicks off with a Christmas Eve beatdown that makes the papers)

The Lion in Winter (set during Christmas in the 12th century--Henry II lets his wife, Eleanor of Acquitaine, out of house arrest and has her, their scheming sons and the King of France over for Christmas. Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn each throwing 98+, and a young Anthony Hopkins as the future Richard the Lionheart.)

Honorable mention: The first Lethal Weapon
U really think players are going to duke without being paid over Kentucky?--Gilbert Arenas, 9/12/19

I just found out tonight my wife has never seen Trading Places.

This thrills me as we can now enjoy that film together. It has Murphy and Akroyd at their peak, and a stunning breakout Jamie Lee Curtis.

FWIW she got the OK from the studio for that role b/c she agreed to do the topless scene. She was known for the slasher stuff at that point, and this was a summer blockbuster movie. I guess she sent them pics, which made that a no brainer. She has great timing, great actress, but whatever gets you in the door I guess.

A movie that came out a couple of years ago, and trust me, Santa, 'ol Jolly Saint Nick, is NOT a guy you want to cross swords with: Violent Night

John Leguizumo, an actor that I truly dislike because he's a racist turd, is the bad guy in this movie. Actually, he's the lead bad guy of a large group of other bad guys, and he is really pretty good in this role. The story is basically a convoluted theft/robbery story with a bunch of really nasty bad guys and a "transformed" Santa Claus who is forced to revert back to some old, evil ways from centuries past.

If you can't tell, I really like this movie.
