    The Republican workers party

I have thought this to be an apt assessment of the political parties for the last 3 years. IMO it was a damn shame his mouth and tweets kept pooping on the movement he re-energized. Regan started it but had no one to step in to carry the ball over the goal line after his 8 years were over.

the Democrats have abandoned the blue collar base, and the GOP absolutely should take that spot. Trump tapped into it, but Trump thought it was all about him, and not about the message. Typical New York egomaniac.

I'm hoping Trump will step off the stage and the GOP can re-tool around that base, but with someone who can stay on message.

They won't have the fervent appeal of Trump b/c his bigger than life approach does work for a lot of that base, but I think it will also not drive away people who would otherwise be receptive to the message.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Agree with all of that. Am positive Trump won't step off the stage.

Certainly looking that way. I think the GOP leadership will let this play out a while, but in the end he may get a push. In the end he doesn't pay for all of this himself, and the party and the donors may decide to make things harder on him.

Yes. I posted this on the other thread as well but the "Defense of the election" fund emails he is sending out says 50% of it goes to pay off his campaign debt.
Maybe even more than that, he is a master at staying in the news.
But ya, maybe they give him a week or two and you might begin to see more of them come out publicly congratulating Biden (several have but several have been silent). Mitch is probably the key to that.

    Re: The Republican workers party

Ya I saw that. Honestly, it’s too bad. I saw several reports say that he’s doing it to keep Republicans stirred up for the Georgia Senate runoff. Not because he thinks Trump has any chance whatsoever of overturning multiple states and 100,000 voters.

The problem for most of these folks, again, is that Trump wields so much power in the party. If he comes out and goes after you, you are very likely to lose your next primary.
Marco Rubio learned that the hard way. He used to be one of the most moderate guy in the Senate. He got crushed for it in 2016 and now he’s kissed Trumps ass for 4 years.
Same with Cruz. Same with Lindsay Graham. All of these guys HATE Trump. But they will lose their next election without him (worked for Graham already). All of them have said WAY worse things about Trump than any Dem on this board. They have called him a racist. Religious bigot. Egomaniac. Etc.
Notice who are the most active voices defending him right now? Those 3.

This is why I respect Ben Sasse so much. He’s a true conservative. He’s not a moderate. I don’t agree with several of his positions. Like, not even a little.
But I respect that he wasn’t willing to fall in line for the purpose of re-election.
He called Trump out for what he was (sort of. Ha). And Trump went after him. Tweeted Sasse would lose by 20 and that the Republicans should replace him in Nebraska. And Sasse just won by 40 points. He’s also publicly come out and congratulated Joe Biden. One of the very few to do so.
But guys like him are few and far in between.
