    This is a scary scenario

At least to me it is

Meanwhile, the Democratic presidential candidates think California is a model state and that government control is superior to the free market in determining our energy choices. It’s a safe bet to say that California’s energy nightmare could become a national nightmare under a Democratic president starting in 2021.

Looking farther into the future, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to run for president in 2024 or later. Should he ever move into the Oval Office, expect him to do his best to bring the craziness of California’s far-left policy disasters to our entire nation.

And that's why the current polls are meaningless.

Trump is a terrible candidate in so many ways, but he was a terrible candidate in 2016 too. Conveniently last election the Democrats ran someone who was so utterly personally uninspiring, unlikeable and such a political insider that people took a chance on an over the top almost zany and certainly immature Populist outsider.

Trump's not as much an outsider in some ways, but he still has a lot of that with him, and people are still sick of politics as usual. In his favor he has NOT, despite the insane predictions, brought about World War III, etc. He's proven to be pedulant (Doc's great description of him) and hasn't matured one iota in office, but he's also not really done anything out of the norm either.

But the real reason they don't mean anything is right now he's running against some kind of ideal alternative.

Elections aren't about picking the "best" person. usually it's about picking the lesser of evils. Rarely is a candidate beloved by enough people for that to work, which is why negative campaigns are so effective despite their unpopularity.

Right now it's Trump v "something else". And yes his negatives are high, and will be high. Lots of people hate his guts. Many otherwise reasonable people think he's sent from Hell to bring down our nation. I get it.

But Warren is OUT THERE man. Wants to eliminate border enforcement, move to complete government run health care, a true socialist/globalist agenda. In an era of Populist nationalism.

She's also FAKE as hell. A pure politician, like Hillary. Would lie to you about water being wet. Has lied about her ethnicity to play the affirmative action card while being a wealthy "privileged" white woman.

When all of that comes out, her personal lies and deceits and flip flops, along with her radical left agenda, then we'll see where the polls fall.

It will be close. Trump has to win some tough states like Pennsylvania, and the GOP will have to whip up the negatives on Warren big time to match the negatives that will motivate the Left base, but that's not undoable given Warren's positions.

But with a year to go it's just too early to tell. Too many things will change with the economy and foreign policy events, and the Democrats haven't even started their primaries yet.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.
