The voters are radicalizing even more it seems
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018...io-cortez.html
We're seeing this on BOTH sides, but maybe more on the left at least right now. it was much more on the right in 2016 with Trump winning, and the Tea Party movement.
Tonight a top Democrat House member, one of the ones eyed to replace Pelosi, just lost to a devout socialist, who has campaign posters with "Socialism will win" on it. Big, red signs in the style of old Soviet posters.
On the other side, standing against Trump in the GOP isn't very wise either of late.
Both parties are radicalizing, though it would seem the Democrats are getting there faster of late. The shrill nature of their rhetoric is coming back to bite the more establishment candidates as they've whipped many in their "base" into such a frenzy they are going out and voting for even more extreme candidates.
Now that being said the DNC is clearly recruiting mainstream candidates, esp. those with military backgrounds, to try to win those general elections. But it's not clear their voters are OK with that, and it will repress turnout of that group. Same thing with the GOP, as even lifelong Republicans are increasingly unexcited about the establishment candidates.
Very interesting to watch the dynamics, as the leadership tries to get more middle of the road candidates, but their own voting bases keep going father to the sides of the road.
IMO the GOP probably is a bit better off with this, as the "trump" candidates are more extreme but seem to be more electable than the most extreme socialist candidates, and the most extreme Trump type guys (like the one in West Virginia) were rejected.
But the DNC is doing a better job I think of targeting some swing races with middle candidates, like here in KY-6.Last edited by CitizenBBN; 06-26-2018 at 10:49 PM.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Dems have to get some Sam Nunns to win the tide and stop Trump.
Socialists will not carry the day in swing states. unless tariffs negate any personal gains from tax cuts and high employment.
Have to come to the middle from both sides. That is our hope. Extremism from the left and right both lead to facism.

Cool as a rule, but sometimes bad is bad.

Been a radical centrist all my life. Pushed to the right by the radicalization of campuses, (anti free speech, communists, Title IX abuse, anti male bigotry, end of accountability,) in particular but several of the far left organizations like Democrat Socialists, living wage, resist, etc.
Congress failure and immense debt from both parties has me wondering how big a reboot is needed.
