Re: Random Holiday Gift Ideas Thread
For those of you who enjoy using your on tools for repair work, you really need to invest in a 90 tooth ratchet. There is very little, 4 degrees, handle travel on the return stroke. It makes some jobs in tight places possible when they appear to be impossible with the older style ratchets. Many companies make them these days. Just search for 90 tooth ratchet and pick your brand and price point.
Pablo's set above has a 72 tooth gear head which has 5 degrees of arc swing. Not shabby at allseeya

Was hoping this thread would have links to reputable escort services and discount liquor stores. Bummer.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Re: Random Holiday Gift Ideas Thread
I either have given or have the bolded items. I gave my sister the Victorinox chef's knife for Christmas last year and she absolutely loves it. No one else is allowed to even touch it, she says.
I like that little knife sharpener, too. I wish I knew how to use a whetstone properly, but for those of us who don't have the knowledge or patience to use one properly, pull-through knife sharpeners like this one beat the heck out of using dull kitchen knives.
I got Rise and Fall of the Third Reich on Audible earlier in the year and listened to it. I tried to read it when I was younger and it was just too dense to get through. Much easier on Audible; it's long (about 60 hours), but I found it easier to digest that way. Impressive book, and creepy to hear the complete history of how that country went crazy and how the world suffered for it.
I have the Apple TV previous model (non-4K) and love it. The Siri integration is very cool; for example, I love being able to say "fast forward 20 minutes" and in most cases (some video doesn't have that capability, for some reason; I think it's provider-specific) it jumps right there. Or you can say "show me movies with Peter O'Toole" and it'll bring up a list of movies available through the Apple TV--some are pay, but others you can see through your subscription services (Hulu, Netflix, etc.). It has a lot of other capabilities, especially if you're an iPhone/iPad/Mac user.
I'm listening to Christmas music right now through my Oontz Angle Bluetooth speaker ("Mele Kalikimaka" by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters--a classic!). I've taken it with me everywhere and it's been a great little performer for $30.Last edited by KSRBEvans; 12-04-2017 at 08:34 AM.

Re: Random Holiday Gift Ideas Thread
No need to apologize, it is good to see after a year how things have shaken out. I am fully willing to update this thread for this year as well if anyone wants to add gift ideas.
Since you started it, I will attest to the quality of the KitchenAid 6000 HD, my girl bakes several times a week at least. Often with very firm doughs (rice and/or tapioca flours tend to make REALLY thick doughs). It powers right through them and keeps on ticking.
Similarly, my MiBand 2 and HK Onyx speakers get daily use and just keep going. We have two of the Onyx Studio speakers in the apartment and they work amazingly well. Usable from anywhere in the apartment and LOUD!
The DeWalt tool set has been excellent for my usage, which admittedly is closer to monthly than weekly. It is back at Costco (I think it is 181 pc now) and on sale recently for $79.99.Last edited by PedroDaGr8; 12-04-2017 at 10:44 AM.

If you haven't used packing cubes, they can revolutionize the way you pack. They help save space and keep things organized in your suitcase and while traveling. This set of Amazon Basics packing cubes is a nice set and less than $20. Eagle Creek and Ebags also make good sets.

If anyone is looking for a gift for me, a big bottle of bourbon would be fine. Maybe some Henry McKenna, I'm not too awful picky.

Re: Random Holiday Gift Ideas Thread
I'll put in a request.
Request # 1 - decent, but inexpensive bluetooth earphones. I use these at night, watching TV on my phone while everybody else sleeps. I love one pair that I have but I like to use them when I am jogging, and right now, I have misplaced one set of bluetooth headsets I purchased some time ago, and I have misplaced the charging cord for the otherone, so I am down to my "sport" earbuds only.
Example: These are the bluetooth headphones I use for running. Right now, I use them for everything. I love these. Very comfortable, and they stay in. Bought in July, so far, so good.

These are the ones I bought in February. I do not know where they are. I went to LaGrange, spent the night, and thought they were in my overnight bag. I think they may have been left in the hotel.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ideally, I do not want to spent $30 for decent headsets like this, although it was worth it.
Request # 2 - decent, but inexpensive, wired, BULK earbuds. My son wears them practically all the time. And goes through several sets in several months. We're always buying more. I'd like to buy about two dozen earbuds just for him, that are decent. I have seen the "bag-o-earbuds" Amazon sells, and every time I look into it, there are too many people talking about how many of them are bad. I'm probably the only person in the market for these.Last edited by Darrell KSR; 12-05-2017 at 04:57 PM.

Re: Random Holiday Gift Ideas Thread
Darrell, these Anker earbuds (currently on sale for $18.99 on a flash sale on Amazon) are the ones Mrs. BEvans and I use:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have a problem with earbuds staying in while I'm exercising/doing chores, but these stay in very well for me. Mrs. BEvans runs and she says they stay in very well for her, too.
The thing that sold me on them (besides being an Anker product--I like their stuff) was there's an 18-month warranty, so if they started flaking out I could return them. But that hasn't been an issue.Last edited by KSRBEvans; 12-05-2017 at 03:37 PM.

Love Anker products, but I missed the deal. Now $25.99. I was just too slow on the punch, which is ok. I don't have an immediate need anyway.
