Re: Last Post Wins
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is butterdream.
That is how I (mis)heard the lyrics as a kid. I don't remember when I finally figured out what it was really saying.
(Also for another song that said "and killed a pal of mine" I always wondered "what is a palomine?" at least for quite a while.)

Re: Last Post Wins
OK, so we know:
1) It's going to continue to rain like we should all be building an ark, which seems to be the norm for here now, and
2) Flounder should be congratulated for having overcome a pretty serious drug problem in his youth....
J/K, there were several songs growing up that I didn't have the lyrics right. Even heard a comedy bit about some of the better known ones many years ago, and 2-3 were on my list.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

I always thought Manfred Mann wrote it as well... at least I thought so back in the day.

Re: Last Post Wins
I'ts a Springsteen song, he had it on his debut album Asbury Park, but Manfred Mann's cover made it a hit.
That's definitely one of those growing up where I had no idea what exactly that line was saying. I wasn't even close once I found the correct lyrics, lol.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

I'll be dang. I did not know that the boss wrote that tune, and I also did not know he visited the psychedelic world.

Re: Last Post Wins
Here's the original--quite different from the Manfred Mann remake:
A lot of his early stuff had some literary imagery bordering on surrealism--it was almost like he was trying a little too hard to be another Dylan. IMHO he really found himself on the "Born To Run" album.U really think players are going to duke without being paid over Kentucky?--Gilbert Arenas, 9/12/19

Last Post Wins
I had heard Springsteen’s original way back when, and thought it was funny that he was covering a Manfred Mann song.

Born to Run was a worthy piece of work. This is not something I would be proud of if I were him.

Okay, so I feel like an idiot. I just figured out why my car was leaking when it rained heavily. I had no idea a sunroof drained.

Re: Last Post Wins
Darrell I had the same thing happen with a Pontiac I owned many many years ago. There was nothing in the owners manual that talked about the sun roof drain holes. It drove me batty until I finally took it to the dealership and the shop foreman told me what the problem was.

Ran 3.1 miles this afternoon. I don't exercise well in cold weather, but here it was 45 and sunny. About my limit, and not fun.
