A recap of their accomplishments:
1. 38-2 is an NCAA record for wins in a season
2. 6 players in 1st 2 rounds in an all time record
3. 1st team ever to have #1 and #2 NBA picks
4. 1 1st team AA and 1 2nd team AA. Davis had as great an overall season as any NCAA player ever
5. Finished season final AP #1 and NCAA Champion. Since tourney expanded in 1975 only 1976 IU, 1978 UK, 1982 UNC, 1992 Duke, 1995 UCLA, 2001 Duke and now 2013 UL have done that.
6. 17-2 vs NCAA tourney field, 9-0 vs Elite 8, 4-0 vs Final 4 field and 10-0 vs AP ranked teams.
7. Led nation in 5 NCAA stats categories, the only NCAA champ to ever do so. They led the nation in Wins, W/L percentage, FG% defense, scoring margin, and blocks (setting an NCAA record)
8. Many jaw dropping moments: against Georgia UK hit 8 straight threes in a 5 minute period. In the NCAA tourney against Western Ky UK led by 30; against Iowa State game was tied 42-42 and UK went on an 34-10 run; hit 35-37 FTs vs Indiana; against Baylor was down 4-10 and went nearly 30 minutes of actual time without missing a shot to lead 42-22 at the half (38-12 run); led Kansas 38-21 in the title game, etc
9. The run to the title included wins over all time top 20 programs Western Ky, Indiana, Louisville and KU and 3 of those (UL, IU, KU) consider the Cats their most hated rival.
IMO, the 2012 team stands with 1949 as the #2 Cats team ever (behind 1996)
Nationally, the all time top 6 is pretty safe:
1. 1996 UK
2. 1968 UCLA
3. 1973 UCLA
4. 1972 UCLA
5. 1969 UCLA
6. 1975 Indiana
I do think 2012 UK would be in the 7-9 range all time with 1949 UK, 1967 UCLA and 1991 UNLV.
