He's yet to get a scholarship offer, but Kentucky coaches liked what they saw from 6-4, 215-pound Mason County quarterback Jake O'Mara at Saturday's camp and have invited him back to another camp in July.
"Jake had a very good camp at UK. A lot of positives. His arm strength got their attention," said Mason coach David Buchanan.
O'Mara is in the 2015 recruiting class.
"His arm strength/ball velocity is his best thing. In that department, he is the strongest of any quarterback we have had here," Buchanan said. "He is still growing in other areas of being a quarterback, but he has the physical part of throwing the ball. He can make any throw you want.
"He is a good boy and has a very supportive family. We have been through some real tough times the past two seasons and they have been super through all of it. Jake, really our entire team, has had to grow up the hard way the past two seasons. Hopefully that experience will pay big dividends this fall."
