  • Other Sidebar Notes on the Pro Day

The most exciting moments of the day came when the smallest of the nine players tested on the bench-press. Again, there was repititous rep with 225-pounds on the bar. Ironically of the skill-positoin tested, the former walkon players tested the best. Coshik Williams put the weight up 20-times and Mikie Benton 15-times. It was verified by teammates present that Williams squats in the low 600-pounds. At 185-pounds Williams pound for pound was the strongest player on the football team. It would've been interesting to see his stats on the football field were not for a early season injury that sidelined him for the entire season.

A Philidelphia Eagles scout said that Warford would go late second round to early third round in the NFL draft. He said that early on he thought the young man was little puffy but he lost some weight and helped himself greatly in the Senior Bowl.

Clif Marshall (APG) Athletics Performance Director at Ignition is baced out of Cincinnati, Ohio is a former strength coach at the University of Louisville and the Cincinnati Bengals. His company specializes in preparing college seniors for what they will have to go through at the combine and various Pro Day's. He was on hand checking out his latest pupils at UK Collins Ukwu and Martavious Neloms. Marshall has previously worked with a bevy of primarily UK players including John Conner, Corey Peters, Johnny Williams, Myron Prior, Steve Johnson, and many others. Ignition has 150-athletes in the NFL. Conner is now a Cincinnati Bengal and he said Ignition helped him rehab some injuries as well as many college seniors that are beat up after a grueling season. Marshall said his primary interest is in UK athletes.

When Mark Neal Brown and Mark Stoops say they need more speed, size, and strength I view that as an a understatement.
