Oscar Tshiebwe named 2022 Kentucky Sports Figure of the Year

I don't see this is a surprise with the guy who swept all six National Player of the Year awards.What was kind of cool is that for the first time in the history of the award, University of Kentucky athletes swept all three of the 3 places.




Track and field star Abby Steiner finished second. She had an incredible year, winning three NCAA Championships, including first place in the US championship in the 200 m, and won two relay gold medals for Team USA at the World Athletics Championships. She also won the Bowerman Award, top track and field athlete of the year.

Kentucky women's basketball star Rhyne Howard finished third. She led Kentucky to their first SEC Tournament championship in 40 years and was a first-team AP All-American for a third time. She was picked number one overall in the 2022 draft by the Atlanta Dream and was named WNBA Rookie of the Year.
