  • Jordan Wright looking to build on momentum of bowl game touchdown

Kentucky linebacker Jordan right topped off the 2019 season by putting the icing on the cake with a 28 yard fumble return for a touchdown on the game's final play in Kentucky's Belk bowl victory over Virginia Tech. Jordan talked about that being a fantastic way to end the season, and wanted to build on that momentum for this year. He spoke to the media this afternoon after practice. The following are his comments.

*Jordan is looking to set the edge harder this year and add to his pass rush moves. He knows that he is been physical, but he is wanting to add the physical and finesse games together this year in a better package.

*Football started really clicking with him more when he found his real love was for football, and did not try to be a two sport athlete and play basketball as well. He said that football was hard for him until that time and then it started becoming easier.

*All of the linebackers are pretty much playing the same way, making sure that every rep they go hard and they are playing every down like it is your last. There follow the lead of Josh and Boogie.

*He is not had any problem with tendinitis since his sophomore year. He continues to get treatments on it though, even if there is nothing that is hurting just as a preventative measure.

*He is becoming more locked in. After talking to Coach White, he realized that he needed to work on more than just his athletic ability. His game really picked up more the second half of the season as a result.

*Just as Coach White hoped, Jordan said that his confidence is very high because he is going against the top tackles in college football in practice. He believed that it would help him big time in the Southeastern conference.

*When he was asked about their tight ends at Kentucky, he said that he love the tight ends and he said "You know Coach Marrow, Big Dog, you know he will have those tight ends bringing it!"

*Over the summer Jordan got a puppy who is now 13 weeks old. Mocha is a pitbull that he fell in love with when he saw her eyes and personality and it just really clicked with him.
