  • VAUGHT: Beau Allen liked what he saw and heard at Kentucky

Over the last three years Lexington Catholic quarterback Beau Allen spent a lot of time with Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw. Obviously, he liked what he saw and heard because he recently verbally committed to Kentucky.

“I just like the kind of people they are inside and outside of football,” said Allen. “It was just great to get to know them and be around them both.”

He also knows new offensive analyst Mark Perry well because he was his coach at Lexington Catholic before going to Troy and then West Virginia briefly before going Mark Stoops’ staff at UK. Allen admits he was a bit surprised when Perry found his way back to Lexington after the 2018 season ended and after Neal Brown got hired at West Virginia.

“I am excited for coach Perry and his family to be back in Lexington,” Allen said. “He is not allowed to technically go out and recruit but I pretty sure he can do most everything else around the (football) facility. I think it will be a big help to me to have him around.”

Allen plans to be at Kentucky “many times” for camps and other things this summer to start “working” on his collegiate career. He plans to be an early enrollee and start school at Kentucky in January.
