    How many 5 star freshmen…

…will the soon to be instituted military draft get?

And when registered legal, american born boys are fighting, how is it we will be letting the ones over the border layabout on welfare cards?

Good questions, bigsky. And it's a very good thing and I am happy that I am way past too old to be recalled.

I actually think the Draft will be a good thing. It brings together normal folks from all segements of life and hopefully they will see they are not as dissimilar as they think they are.

I respectfully disagree with the first part of your statement, VirginiaCat. The "ALL VOLUNTEER" services served America with the same effect. Why? Because everyone that signed on the dotted line and raised their hand to swear the Oath WANTED TO BE THERE.
That will not be the case with conscription. And as sissified and dysfunctional as today's younger people are, well, making a lot of them do mandatory military service is a recipe for disaster. JMHO. I admit that I 'could be wrong', but don't think I am. Honestly, I just don't believe that conscription is the answer, nor will it be a good thing for America.
But we may also get to that point just because, so few are actually joining voluntarily now. The most recent numbers for recruiting shows, IIRC, that only the Marine Corps is even close to meeting their recruiting needs.
I just don't see conscription as a good alternative, but if overall recruiting numbers don't improve, there may not be any choice. Again, with as sissified and dysfunctional as a lot of today's youngsters are, the results won't be what we need for the defense of our Republic.

A one or two year mandatory federal service would be opposed by many of the same people who think we are out here working to provide six years of college lifestyle delayed adulthood to the pampered entitled twits we see everywhere.

Wasn't the draft actually a two year commitment when it was still in effect? My cousin was drafted, one of the very last to actually be drafted before we went to the all volunteer services. He was in college, on scholarship playing golf in Tampa, Florida when he received his notice from Uncle Sugar in the mail. He was drafted into the Army, after Basic & AIT ended up at Ft.Riley, KS, then was sent overseas to the 2nd MP's, 2nd Infantry Division in the DMZ of Korea because he conducted a traffic stop on a Command Sergeant Major and apprehended him for DUI.
Three days later he received orders to Korea.
There's just some things you don't do, even if you're right and have the authority to back it up.
I guess he didn't get that memo.

At least they didn't send him to Alaska. That would've sucked big time. But I guess Korea toward the end of Vietnam was about as bad as it could get back then.
