    L.Q. Jones passes

May not recognize the name, but you will the face. Veteran "western" character actor. Was in a host of TV shows and movies.

I remember him in Lone Wolf McQuade with Chuck Norris.

But his best work IMO may be as writer and director of the classic "A Boy and His Dog", with a young Don Johnson. Classic midnight movie cult film. Actually had a great cast for the budget of the film, including Jason Robards, Alvy MOore (Green Acres) and others.

I think there was a SAG rule he had to appear in every TV show in the 1970s. I remember him in Kung Fu, Vegas, Charlies Angles. He popped up everywhere.

I pulled IMDB on him and the list is huge. Not surprised but way more than I ever knew about.

People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

The sheriff in Casino, the one that comes to the guy to get his nephew re-hired. Just an example of how he's in all these bit character roles.

Looking at his IMDB he was in about every hit TV show for an episode or 3 for about 20 years, lol. Back when there were only 3 stations.

My favorite reference? He was in Mother, Jugs and Speed. that's a 70s Bill Cosby flick that is funny for it's not being so funny. But the cast is amazing. Raquel Welch plays Jugs obviously, but Larry Hagman in there, Jones, Harvey Keitel, and others.

And could any movie be made today with that Jugs reference in the title? lol.

    I remember that movie.

From the trailer: "Raquel Welch, a girl with tremendous...ambitions."

Speed: "They don't call me Speed for nothing."
Jugs: "Well let's hope they don't call you Speed for everything."

    LOL.

Dang, now I have to go find that movie. I'm a collector of odd and obscure films apparently. I finally just got a copy of Hot Stuff with Jerry Reed, still trying to locate Beer! With Loretta Switt.
