Colin Powell dead at 84...COVID related per reports.
Lost some respect for him during the Obama years where I perceived his race took precedence, but I still respect what he did for this country. Was sad to hear this.

His time under Reagan, Bush, and Clinton were very admirable. I thought he did a great job even though he invaded Iraq before confirming WMDs

He could have, and should have been our first black President…but I get why he chose not to run for President.
God’s speed.

Re: Colin Powell dead at 84...COVID related per reports.
He had blood cancer. Same kind as a good friend of mine. Who remarked to me today that people think he is some kind of covid radical for staying home and avoiding almost everything. It is my cross to bear as well—and when I do go out to grocery or maybe hardware, I wear a n95 mask. Even vaccinated in advance and using monoclonal antibodies treatment it is likely covid would be fatal. Rather than a lesson in the futility of getting vaccinated, losing the General is another reason to get the shot and avoid passing on the virus.
And Colin Powell should have been president.

A patriot
“Before I leave I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations,
“I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it.”
-Patriot and Senator. John McCain
