Stocking HP ammo is not for defending our country, HP ammo is illegal to use in war. Would Obama declare martial law? In a heartbeat.

I don't know what the Feds do, but when we go to the range to practice/qualify we always do so with FMJ ammunition. It's a lot more economical, as hollowpoint ammo is fairly expensive.

That said, that is a whole bunch of hollowpoint ammo that the Feds have purchased.

I have some friends that work for the Feds. Time to do some research.

That's what I'm thinking, Keith. Either he's looking for a reason or will make one up. My WAG is he'll use economic collapse and the ensuing mayhem.

Department of Homeland Security Targets Gun Collector

    Kurt Nimmo February 1, 2013

KRQE in Albuquerque, New Mexico, reports that the Department of Homeland Security – the federal agency initially established to protect the United States from terrorists and respond to natural disasters – has used its ICE division to bust a gun collector.

Federal Homeland Security Investigation agents raided the home of Robert Adams on Thursday and seized 548 handguns and 317 rifles from the collector. They also raided his business and took an additional 599 handguns.

KRQE reports that Adams did not violate any laws and was not charged with any crimes. It said the DHS, however, is not finished with Adams and he may be charged with gun smuggling, tax evasion and violating importation laws.

The government spent years surveilling the gun collector and argues that his weapons are “not properly marked possibly to make the guns more valuable and to avoid paying high import taxes.”

KRQE reports the federal government is concerned “that no markings on the guns and missing documents mean the guns are not traceable by law enforcement.”

New Mexico does not regulate or specifically restrict the possession of firearms. Owners are not required to register or license firearms with the state.

“No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms,” Article 2, Section 6 of the state constitution reads.

Gun collectors are protected under the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986. The law states that a firearms dealer is defined as a person who is selling guns for profit or livelihood. Unlicensed individuals are allowed to sell firearms from their private collection without performing a background check on the buyer.

Government gun-grabbers call this the “Gun Show Loophole” and have declared they will outlaw the practice and close down gun shows around the country.

The DHS is obviously looking to make an example of Mr. Adams as the government prepares to enact and enforce a wide range of new laws aimed at diminishing the Second Amendment. It remains to be seen, however, if the federal government will use this case as part of its ongoing propaganda effort to demonize legal gun ownership.

So Mr. Adams has not committed a crime and has not been charged with any crimes? But they have confiscated his property? Hmmmm............sounds like the work of that fine agency that has the initials BATFE, doesn't it?
Gee, I wonder why they didn't use an armored personnel carrier & flasbangs like they did in Waco? I wonder if they had the fire department on standby, you know, just in case there might be some young children in there, because you know, when the BATFE uses those flashbangs there might be a small chance of a fire getting started........

Guns without markings? We call guns without serial numbers antiques in the real world.

No documents? Unless the collector has an FFL there are no documents required to own a firearm.

Sounds like a direct violation of the fourth amendment to me.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

If the guns were imported or made in the US after 1968 they must have a serial number stamped on them. I suppose he could have bypassed this but I don't know how. Any gun prior to 68 didn't have to have a serial number. Some makers used them, some didn't.

There are ways he could violate the law, but just not having "documents" or such things is thin. If he has a Curio and Relic license he does have to keep some records however.

Wish they'd spend years investigating people who are actually a danger to innocent people.

Since he was not charged and this was not a BATF case it doesn't seem the likely violation is not having C&R paperwork. My WAG is that the guy has some pre-'68 firearms with no serial number and they are using this flimsy excuse to confiscate his firearms.

More than anything else, it sets a precedent. Another stone thrown in the pond to measure the ripple.

I hope there is a legit reason for the purchases. I suppose one reason is just to limit the supply of that ammo in the marketplace. If there are any plans to use it domestically against the citizens of the country, it will be the largest mistake ever made by the federal government. They would have grossly underestimated the response to such actions from much of the country.

Interesting article and scary. Throw in the ability to know use drones against any American with no evidence is even scariery. Being a lame duck with no worries about being reflected and what has transpired so far, we could be in for a long a dangerous 4 years

That's what I can't figure out. Who's going to going to shoot his or her own people? I'm sure there are some, but nowhere near enough.

I dismissed it early on but my level of concern continues to grow. Agree 100% if something of that level does happen they will have severely underestimated the resistance. If nothing else we're better shots than the feds. lol.

There is a lot more guns and ammo in the hands of us loonies than there was just a few months ago. I would hate to fight and shoot fellow Americans but would if forced to.

One of the many things that bother me is the lack f concern by congressional democrats about the drones and all this ammo. If that had been bush saying he could kill any American w/o evidence other than he "thought" someone was a bad guy he would have been brought up on charges

The US Government commands a multi-billion dollar military with nearly three million active and reserve personnel; warships and aircraft of unfathomable power; nuclear missiles; untold kinds chemical and biological weapons; and the ability to tactically assassinate anyone in the world with a remote-controlled drone... and you're worried about the DHS buying up some spare ammo?

And King George commanded the most modern military in the world at the time of his injustices against the Colonists in America. Apples to oranges. When faced with tyranny, and those threatened are armed, and if those facing that tyranny are not afraid to use those arms, then all of the technology in the world is basically useless against those who refuse to be ill treated.
This POTUS has repeatedly forced his ideas & will on the American people in many un-American ways and continues to seek ways to do so. And it would appear to me that he wants to do more..........a lot more. At some point, if he keeps it up, he will cross that line and when he does he will find out, albeit too late, that Americans are an entirely different creature than Kenyans or Indonesians. But he keeps pushing his big government idealism, and at some point the balloon will burst.
Then it's all on him. Shame on him when it happens. Then all of his idealistic socialist bullyang will come home to roost.
