Re: North Central Gulf Coast gonna get really wet again?

Well, I decided to stay up and do a little bit of work. My computer is right beside a window and I can hear the wind and rain falling. It's still not bad.

But now I am going to go to sleep. Or at least I will try.

Knock on wood it has been ok so far. Wind gusts are strong. Amateur weather watchers reporting wind gusts between 72 and 76 mph about 8 miles from here. Worst winds are yet to come when the south wall passes. No rain with the south wall, but very strong winds.

The eye will pass just south of here in a few minutes. It has just been downgraded from hurricane to tropical storm. Looks like an hour or two more of strong winds. This storm is moving very fast at 31 mph.

The winds are dead calm no rain. All I can hear is water gushing down the street. Wind will pick up again in a few minutes. Just lost power.

We were fine. Power flickered a couple of times, but we didn't lose it.

Everything here was fine. Had to clear the driveway before I could get out.

People who live at elevation seemed to have the highest winds. I live along the river valley which seemed to fair much better. Daughter lives on top of the mountain. They had a lot of trees down in her meighborhood.

From Shelby County Sheriff's Facebook (my county)

    Traffic Alert:

Shelby County continues to have numerous reports of traffic obstructions throughout the entire county. If you must travel this morning, use extreme caution and know there may not be any advanced warning that a roadway has a downed tree, powe line, or other obstruction.

You can view our dispatch log for a current listing of areas with known obstructions; and please remember that not all problems may have been reported. Go to www.shelbyso.com. Select “Services” and then select “Dispatch Log.” This listing may not include problems reported within certain city limits in Shelby County.

Oh wow. That's not far from me. Hope they are OK.

I saw on the Shelby County dispatch that there was an obstruction on Meadowbrook Road, too, but I haven't been away from home this morning.

Looks like I’m just south of 3” on the rain tally since last night.

Oh, my... This was at my office. Or, I should say my former office, as I moved from there a few months ago when the firm I was with departed.

It was this morning, but as the story says, no indication whether that was storm related or not.

I just sold a Mustang that got parked in a pond. So have them call me.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.
