one of the hallmarks of extremism in general is how anyone who disagrees is explained away by being characterized as some version of evil.

The Left has done this with the definition of terms to great effect throughout the world and over the entire history of the Communist/Marxist existence. But it is also seen in fascist movements, radical Islam and other past religious movements, etc.

It's largely the sign of a weak position and is used b/c it appeals to the lowest common denominator of intelligence. It's simple, certain, and is thus easily embraced by those who want simple answers in the world.

The American Left has taken this to a level of expertise rarely seen outside periods like 1930s-40s Europe or major religious conflagrations.

Anyone who disagrees with a particular policy is just a racist, sexist homophobe. You don't have to defend your position or have any discussion at all.

It's a vast logical fallacy of ad hominem, played out on a global scale and few seem to notice. Attack the person, not the position. So very easy. Maybe if we required a logic class in school it would help. Of course according to that insane flyer apparently that kind of objective, non-emotional thinking is also racist somehow (and I've never heard anything that is more truly racist than that inference).
