Any rental car places that rent to 19 year olds?
Scenario: daughter getting married next month in Nashville (hopefully).
19-year old son with old car in Jackson, Mississippi, in the wedding. Original plan for him to fly to Nashville is now nixed, and thinking he'll drive. Would prefer him driving a newer car at least, but have never heard of rental car places renting to under 21.
Alternative option is for us to switch cars with him for awhile so he can drive a newer car.
Or he can drive his old car.
Any random thoughts?

What if you rent it and make him an alternate driver.

Any rental car places that rent to 19 year olds?
It’s worth checking into. I know my father has rented cars in the past and had me pick them up for him. I never thought about the age thing, but he always added insurance when renting vehicles.

Re: Any rental car places that rent to 19 year olds?
Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth my young wife and I had flown to Vegas for a few days and wanted to rent a car to go see the Hoover Dam and the Canyon. I was 20 yrs old and she 1 year younger and no rental place would consider renting to me because I was not 21 or older.

I guess "eloping" is too far out of the range of options at this point?
I don't know of anyone who rents to under 21 off the top of my head.
You tend to like renting to take longer drives whereas I just take whatever car there is, so take this with a grain of salt, but is the car reliable but just old or does it have some history of issues? With a history of issues I'd try to find an option, if not I might let it go with the old car.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Any rental car places that rent to 19 year olds?
I'm probably going to jinx this... But it's a 23 year old Jeep that has never stranded its owner. Most reliable car I have ever owned. We are the 2nd owners and I have passed it down to three different kids, and if I had time, I'm going to buy my son another car and keep it for a backup and occasional car for me to drive. But I've only got about 2 weeks to look and I'm just really busy right now.
That's actually my son's solution. He loves the car. He would drive it anywhere at anytime.
Oh, and the elopement idea? It really makes the most sense right now, but that's not to be. Then again, who knows what's going to happen in a month?

Re: Any rental car places that rent to 19 year olds?
What we did when my son car broke down was I rented a car and let him use mine. For him to rent it (age 21) was $400 plus a week. For me it was under $200. That was Hertz. Their min age is 20.
mostly it is state dependant, and I would look for NON-national brands. All the biggies stop at 20, but some locals companies might. Here is a link to try
