Sorry if a little salty today
Had a beloved pet (Mishka) pass away this afternoon. Today sucked.
I'm going to miss her waiting outside my door for me to walk her to her food every morning when I got up.
Son adopted her, an older cat, as well as a younger cat when she was 10. He had her for two years at his apartment, then a move back home and she became part of our family for the last two years. Sweetest cat ever.
Sucks.
I can't even remember what I posted today but I've been snippy with everybody today, so I'm sure I was here too.

So sorry. It is going to hurt for more than a little bit.
Funny how we get attached to the animals and the little habits and bonds we form with them. One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can't utter.

Sorry if a little salty today
I couldn't bear to come back to the thread until now. Thanks to all. I know we all go through it. I read about your cats and dogs and suffer with you when you suffer a loss, too, just as Keith said. Prayers to you dallen. Bigsky, absolutely, in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat, as bad as it hurts now, would do it all over again.
I've had dogs, cats, all kind of pets. Don't know why this one hit me so hard. My son and my wife were closest to her, but I got up earlier than anyone every morning, and we had our ritual where she waited patiently outside my bedroom door. Then I avoided tripping over her as she walked me to the kitchen where she chastised me if there was a speck of her bowl not fully covered with food. She had the meekest little cry.
Every night my wife or one of the kids would give her the "treats." Just like we have to be careful not to say "Alexa," we had to avoid words that had that "treat" sound, or she would start crying for it. She didn't do any tricks, but she would stand up on her hind legs for the treats.
Queen Mishka, she was so, so sweet.

Re: Sorry if a little salty today
Truthfully, not the biggest fan of pets. I have a dog (Toby) that is more headache than joy for me. His brother (Copper) was a fairly challenging dog as well. Copper passed away a year ago. But even I was sad and shed a tear. When Toby goes, despite the challenge he is, I will miss him as well. It will also be a tough one for my kids. My 5 year old will have a better understanding of what it means. But my 3 year old is pretty attached to Toby and really missed him when he was gone for a month. She would always say "Toby is my doggie. And he licked me "yesterday"". Everyday is yesterday to her.
Late to thread but sorry to read this Darrell. They really do become part of our lives.

Even though I knew it was coming, it still hurts. We lost Ozzy, our little Shih-Tzu, to the Rainbow Bridge today. B2FA1D41-E42B-49D6-B5D2-BC94C53714A2.jpg

Not sure how I'm just seeing this thread.
sorry Darrell and David. I get along with all animals but I'm mostly a cat person I suppose. I've had a few over the years, still miss them all. That's one very pretty cat, love her expression. I never intend them to, but they all become family.People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Sorry if a little salty today
I’ve only ever had one cat, Weezer The Cat, we called her Weezer for short. I was never a cat person but Weezer grew on me and when she departed, I was surprised at how much she was was missed.

Thought I had posted but I don’t see it. Likewise sorry to see you all lose your friends.
You know, in heaven we will be able to find our old non human friends when we wish to. I am certain of it. I firmly believe that
“Before I leave I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations,
“I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it.”

Re: Sorry if a little salty today
Sorry to read this. Our pups are both 14, one is blind and almost deaf, the other is deaf and has trouble walking at times. Every night before bed I lay on the floor with each one and just pet them and tell them how much I love them.
