I can’t appear on TV without one. You have to have a beautiful bookcase for a suitable backdrop. I have one in the spare bedroom that is home to books I can’t part with. It has an academic trophy I earned at Georgia Tech and my Kentucky Colonel certificate. But it pales in comparison to what I see on tv.
The people on TV reporting from their homes have impressive backdrops. They ALL have floor to ceiling wall bookcases. The ESPN guys have every sports book ever written. And of course the books they have written have a prominent place.
But, For me to appear on TV, I need some books to make me look smart. I don’t have a book on Churchill. I don’t have the first book on philosophy. I do however, still have my Accounting 201 text book and A book on Monet’s years at Giverny. But, I don’t have a collection of books that would make me appear really intelligent.
My favorite remote broadcast is our local news anchor reporting from home. At best you could classify her as a blonde bubble head. But after seeing her bookcase backdrop on the morning news, I know she is really smart. She has a gorgeous designer bookcase. Among her beautiful collection of books, she has turquoise plates and pink glass flowers. But, the most impressive thing is she has biographies of every US President from Wilson to Obama. They are arranged in chronological order. Very impressive. I wonder if I should send her my copy of “The Art of the Deal.” to complete the sequence. I feel inadequate when I see her on tv as I only have books on four Presidents: Clinton, Lincoln, Trump and Davis.
I’ve looked around the house and I don’t have anyplace to set up a camera. I do have a barrel lid from Woodford Reserve on my bar wall I could use, but what would that say about me? Does anyone here have a beautiful bookcase that shows how intelligent you are for the world to see?
