Yeah, we can't possibly let the free market determine, based on costs and demand, how to make this move.

It's going to happen. As we develop better technology and lower costs of production electric cars will become increasingly competitive and actually be BETTER for consumers, and consumers will switch.

But while they are not still necessarily better it's not smart to subsidize them with forcibly taken tax dollars to artificially make them better. If anything it reduced the incentives to keep improving the technology to the point where they are better.

And it's very questionable if moving en masse right now to electric is better for the environment. The cost of battery production in energy and materials, and then factors like long term pollution from them, make electric cars far from a panacea.

But hey, a bunch of career politicians who have never held a real job or had to even once really produce anything must know more than the inherent forces of the free market that built the greatest economic and technological advances in human history.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Then it will be discovered that electric cars are producing cancer causing carcinogens in record quantities, and sell those gas hogs back to us at government auction.
It'll be like riding around in your cell phone.

I might be labeled a bad Dem, but stick a plug in the cows arses and give me the gentle roar of a big block V8 with the smog stuff bypassed any day.

It's those little foreign jobs that wont stop running after a half million miles causing the most problems around here.
Kids cut the pipes off and it sounds like a gas snow blower running on my front porch.
You can hear them go by here twenty times a day stuck in first gear. Mostly Japanese cars and trucks.

“Before I leave I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations,
“I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it.”
