Play Kentucky Derby, 2019 KSR Style

Rules are simple--you have $100 pretend KSR-bucks to wager on the Derby. Person with the most money remaining after the race wins.

One year somebody (Oledon?) said they took the $100 and put it in their pocket. As I recall, they won the contest that year. Badrose won it one year with a $330 day, as I recall. I don't recall huge wins; his may have been the best. Thedonnie123 won last year with $181, nipping Doc's $180. (His secret was he kept $10 in his pocket, only wagered $90, won $171. Clever.)

We'll use the correct odds, but here are the current ones, courtesy of CBS Sports. If you play early, watch for scratches (unless you just want a refund) so you can place another wager.

Whoa...I need to modify the first post--last year Blueboss set the KSR record. Here's what happened in 2018:

I show Blueboss the big winner walking away with $532, and badrose another nice day with $390 right behind him.

Dan had a good profitable day with $222, and I managed to do a little better than break even with $156.

Flounder cut his losses with a $75 winner, and everybody else just enjoyed the history!

Yep, looks like it might be sloppy. Churchill drains really well so timing might be key, but if it rains all day drainage won’t matter.

Local weather guys play the chamber of commerce curve until they can’t. Saturday looks pretty soggy all day...

Another tid bit, since Omaha Beach scratched, jockey Mike Smith lost his mount.

Mike Smith will now be on Todd Pletcher’s Cutting Humor. Could be a game changer, look for his opening 30-1 line to drop

With Hiakel (my long shot) scratching, the one hole will be vacant as all the horses will slide down a spot.

Pletcher now has to pay both jockeys...

I'm going to do like I do when I don't study the horses at all...play some conservative plays and hope something hits where I more or less break even
