In tragedy, high school football brings a community together
NEW ALBANY — The stands are packed and shrouded in purple minutes before kickoff at Kitchens Field.
It's the New Albany Bulldogs' season opener against the team's biggest rivalry, Ripley High. Football season is back, and for a team like New Albany with three consecutive winning seasons under its belt, the game seems to get a little bigger each year.
Head coach Ron Price remembers his first year when he felt like his wife, Amanda, was the only person in New Albany who thought he was right for the job. He relied on her unwavering confidence to continue trying to build a successful football program within a basketball-centric community.
Now he's leading the team into what could become New Albany's fourth consecutive winning season. But he'll be the first to tell you he couldn't have done it without Amanda.
