    Elimination contest-play here

Going to try a NEW game. For those who have played NFL elimination pools, its the same game only we are using college basketball. Here is how its played.

Each 1/2 week I'll list the SEC game (APPLIES TO SEC vs SEC only). Your job is to pick one winner of any of the games. There are no spreads, just winner/loser. Once you pick a team you can not pick that team in any of the following weeks. For example, if you pick UK to win over Vandy you can not pick UK in week 2, 3, 4 etc. If the second week you pick FL to win then you can not pick them or UK in week 3, 4, 5, etc..... So as time goes it gets harder and harder. If you make an incorrect pick you get a strike (and you can not use the team you picked). 2 strikes and you are out. If you miss a week it counts as a strike. As we get to the end of the season, if we have multiple players then we well figure out a tie breaker system

So for week 1 the games are:

    Alabama at Missouri
    Georgia at Florida
    South Carolina at Mississippi St.
    Ole Miss at Tennessee
    LSU at Auburn
    Arkansas at Texas A&M
    Kentucky at Vanderbilt

I have never played this game before, but I love the concept.

OK - hopefully I last more than 2 weeks at this. I probably should look at future weeks to see which teams I may eventually want to pick then instead of now, but what's the fun in that?

    I'll go with Missouri

So if I'm understanding this correctly Doc, one strategy would be to pick the bad teams as early as possible, right? Otherwise when you get toward the end of the game, you'd only have bad teams left from which to pick. Of course, picking bad teams is risky no matter when you do it. With that in mind, let's try

    Mississippi State.

That is one strategy, or if you pick bad teams and they lose you last a shorter period of time. After about 4 weeks it gets tough Realistically, I look for the worst team that I'm sure will win.

NOTE: I'll be going 2 games a week. We have our midweek games as one contest and weekend games as the other. Considering there are 19 in conference games, after 14 games (which is 7 weeks)-assuming we still have players, we will be able to repick a team.
