    Give the PResident this much

It takes some kind of moxy to say this after passing a bill with $620 billion in tax increases and only $15 billion spending cuts:

11:26 p.m. ET - Obama said the government still needs to take a balanced approach on reducing the deficit.

"The one thing that I think hopefully in the new year we'll focus on is seeing if we can put a package like this together with a little bit less drama, a little bit less brinksmanship, not scare the heck out of folks quite as much. We can come together as Democrats and Republicans to cut spending and raise revenue in a way that reduces our deficit, protects the middle class and provides ladders into the middle class for everybody who is willing to work hard," he said.

11:24 p.m. ET – “While I will negotiate over many things, I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether or not they should pay the bills that they've already racked up through the laws that they passed,” Obama said, referring to the upcoming debt ceiling debate.

Get ready dude, b/c that debt ceiling will either be a battle royal or a lot of GOP house members are going to be looking for new jobs soon.

FWIW the vote was 257-167, and almost all the 167 were Republicans. This thing passed with the Democrats backing it, would never have passed a GOP vote. http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2012/roll659.xml

if the GOP leadership blinks again on the debt ceiling b/c "all those people depending on their checks" (which is undeniably true but this madness must end), there may be some new leadership too. Sure hope so.

You may not want another debate on the debt ceiling Mr. President, but that's big talk for a man who won't even propose a budget.

We're simply talking about a man that knows he can openly lie and get away with it. It would be interesting to see just how far he could take it if it weren't things that were so important.
Cool as a rule, but sometimes bad is bad.

the media will cover his butt completely. He could say the sky was pink with big greet polka dots and they'd never call him out.

Think a GOP President who said that while signing a bill that has no spending cuts and is saying we have to raise the debt limit would get a pass on that statement?

Then he calls for "coming together"? How is a bill with $620 billion in tax increases on "the rich" with $15 billion in spending cuts "coming together" with fiscal conservatives?

Let's not forget though, that once again the GOP was basically a "no-show" for this fight after abdicating to the original deal with all of the cuts to the military to start with.
Face it, what's left of the GOP has zero intestinal fortitude, and even worse, zero brains.
So the POTUS gets what he wants, not what the American people need.
This guy is the worst POTUS in the history of the U.S., and we the people basically have no oppostion party standing for anything exept to give in to what ever he wants. This guy is worse than Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Clinton, Carter, and yet the GOP has zero will to stand up and fight him. On anything.
Not all of them in Congress, but most of them are just a bunch of gutless, spineless, leaderless cowards that think rolling over and showing him their bare behinds will placate him.
Is anyone starting to think that I've been right all along about the gallows on the lawn of every county courthouse in America? J/S.........
