Hello, Dolly! Rest in Peace, Carol Channing

A national treasure. Died at age 97.

Saw her perform in Birmingham around Valentine's Day, 1997 in Hello, Dolly. She was 75 or so then and was terrific.

Re: Hello, Dolly! Rest in Peace, Carol Channing

Carol was a fixture in Louisville as I was growing up. There was a woman named Phyllis Knight who had a TV talk show on WHAS and she interviewed Carol every chance she had, whether it was when Channing was in town for a play or attending Churchill Downs. Channing always rejected the Lou uh vull pronunciation and call Louisville "Loveville". She loved the town and folks seemed to love her.
    Real Fan since 1958
