I don't know if this is cool, or an annoyance...my camera's "pro" mode

Took some photos Saturday night with my new phone. They came out poorly. I was very disappointed, as I heard the camera was very good--maybe not up to the Samsung Galaxy 9 whatever, but close.

Anyway, I found a quick Youtube Video and it looks like some of the issues I had may have been remedied had I been able to use the camera in "pro" mode and make the appropriate adjustments.

I am hoping I don't "have" to do that, but if I do, I guess I'll have to learn. I'll post some of the pics here in a minute and let you see how badly they came out.

Here's the video on the camera/pro mode thing. I don't know if I'm asking for help, or having folks commiserate with me or what, but very disappointed right now.

CNN apparently didn't have the problem I had.

    From the CNN article....

The OnePlus 6's main camera has a new sensor that's 19 percent larger than last year's OnePlus 5T. The bigger sensor combined with optical image stabilization (OIS) is a solid recipe for capturing good nighttime and low-light photos. And the OnePlus 6 does just that. It balances image noise without too much noise reduction, which on some phones can give low-light photos a painterly quality.

See, that's EXACTLY what happened with the photos I took--they look like paintings. Terrible. So obviously, I screwed something up.

You can see the photos are not all action photos at all. Many of them were still photos with the same problem. Photos were all taken at night, but under good lighting from the soccer field. I don't recall if the optical zoom was used on these or not, but it's only a 2X optical zoom anyway. It has not been zoomed in further than that.

On my phone the pictures don't look bad. But on the computer screen they they look horrible. Here's a detail of one of the photos I screenshotted. I might look at a couple of others and see if they are any different. Maybe they will help you tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Auto should take a picture as good as pro. Pro is mainly to get effects. And those settings are nothing to make it noisy unless it does not process ISO well.

They look good on my phone.

Looking at the resolution I would think the issue may be with the computer screen blurring the images. Take the camera to Walmart and make a couple of prints and see how they look.

Just to make sure, you didn't have a filter or effect turned on did you?
