    Super Regionals Baseball Talk

    Washington leading Cal-State Fullerton 4-2, B6

UNC-CH defeated Stetson, 7-4. Stetson left the bases loaded in the 9th.

Later today: Minnesota @ Oregon State; Miss. State @ Vanderbilt

Will be honest--Super Regionals have lost some luster to me, as no SEC team is playing someone from another conference. In short, the SEC will have 3 CWS teams, no matter what. That makes it a little dull.

I'll be rooting for Miss. State over Vanderbilt, for Auburn over Florida, and for Arkansas over South Carolina myself...but really, it doesn't matter.

Cal State down to the last two outs, but two on, trailing 6-5.

Oregon State jumps out to a 3-0 lead over Minnesota, B1.

FWIW, I screwed up the Cal State update--WASHINGTON was batting. They actually produced two insurance runs in the top of the 9th, and lead 8-5.

Oregon State now up 4-0 over Minnie.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Washington is bringing in their ace, Joe DeMers, to get the last 3 outs. IF it goes to a Game 3, he would be the starter. This is a good use of him here just for one inning.

    I like Mississippi State.
    I like Gary Henderson.
    I hate the Vanderbilt Whistler.

Not sure I've ever had an easier rooting interest lol.

It's 111 degrees in Fayetteville at field level, and South Carolina is hotter than that. Grand slam just put them up, 6-1.

Texas up 4-1 over Tennessee Tech.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

BOOM. S Carolina goes back-to-back, and it's 7-1. Told you they were hot.

What gets me is UK can play with all these teams. Really sour on this NCAA selection...

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Gary Henderson is in the CWS. #Hail State!

Mississippi State joins UNC-CH, Washington and Oregon State as the first four spots.

Today we'll have the final four spots filled with the winners of:

Arkansas v South Carolina (Go Hawgs!)
    Florida v Auburn (War Eagle!)
Texas v Tennessee Tech (Go Tenn. Tech, nice Cinderella story)
Texas Tech v Duke (Go Red Raiders, can I root for Duke in anything?)

Yep. I know, high road and all that, but we got screwed.

Kentucky won a series against Miss. State, South Carolina, Auburn, and Texas Tech, four of the final 12 teams (and possibly four of the final eight). They went 1-2 v Florida. Only Arkansas dominated them, going 3-0.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

I didn't see the Miss. State v Vanderbilt game, but it was a whale of a game. MSU held a 6-4 lead into the 9th inning, and Vandy hit a 2-run home run to get the Nashville crowd roaring. Somehow they managed to hold it together, and win 10-6 in 11 innings. All the credit in the world to Gary Henderson. What. A. Job.

I was just getting ready to post this. Did any other team in the country play as many teams that made the Tourney as we did. How many of them can say they took series from 4 of the final 12 teams?

Will be interesting to see if Texas can make this a low-scoring game.

Tennessee Tech has nine batters in their starting lineup all batting .310 or better. Their # 3 hitter is batting .375 and their cleanup hitter is batting .400. They have some firepower.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Texas has gone through three scoreless innings, but I'm not sure they can last. The Golden Eagles left runners at 2nd and 3rd that inning. They've only had one hit, but the Texas pitcher is constantly falling behind the batter; has thrown a ball as the first pitch to 7 of the 11 batters.

    But still....

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Roger Clemens' son, Kody, just knocked his 24th home run of the season. Man, he's incredible. Texas extends the lead to 3-0.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Boom. After a strikeout, Texas goes deep again, and putting up big numbers with a 4-0 lead in the 3rd. They know they need to keep building the lead.

    Re: Super Regionals Baseball Talk

Tenn Tech has rebounded to get one back. Leadoff double, groundout, single, scores their first run. Still batting with two outs.
