Always classy but never took herself too seriously. Once asked what the Soviet leader whispered in her ear responded he said he wanted to take me out to a bar (paraphrased)
A bipartisan icon who deserves much respect for her life and service.

    Sad to see her pass

“Before I leave I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations,
“I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it.”

Had a great life and was humble enough to know it. Last couple living in the White House I respected.

I remember being in Houston for the final four when we played UConn. GHWB and Barbara were there. The President was wisked out quickly in a wheelchair before the games were over. Barbara walked out slowly with her detail. The roar for her was deafening! Much love in that football stadium.
