$9.4 million is a heck of a penalty but why lose a year if you know that is the inevitable.
This will be a day longer remembered. It has seen the end of Pitino and will soon see the end of Louisville. September 27, 2017

I’d love to get fired and get that kind of severance package

Tubby has to have made the most money per win over the past 12 years right?

Yeah it seems like foregone conclusion they are getting penny. Gonna be a war for wiseman.

Tubby was a bad fit for Memphis...Parrish has a reputation for leading the campaign to remove coaches. Hard feels between he and Pastner. Parrish set his crosshairs on Tubby after last season. Tubby needs to retire...Should have after Minnesota debacle.

Maybe Tubby will go back to Georgia. I hear they need a coach.

With Tubby's agent nothing would surprise me. That guy's a wizard.

Very unlike Tubby not to jump before he's fired. Maybe he's going to retire?
All I did was stand up to a long laundry list of people who passed away today who couldn't stand up because what was done was wrong.--RP, 8/26/09

Memphis has its first 20 win season since 2013-2014 this year. It seems like bringing in Penny is a lot like retreading Pastner, only Penny is less proven now than Pastner was in 2009.

Only if you believe he's desperate to play for Penny. I don't.

I don’t get the worry for Wiseman, Jeffries is associated with Penny and commits 4-5 months early even before he knows if Penny is getting a job or not.

The article from Kyle Tucker a few ago, prior to the Arkansas game, indicated that Penny wouldn’t have a huge influence on Wiseman.

Texas Tech was a good (note edit: phone typing is horrible for spelling) place for him. He really disrespected the AD there by not taking his call before even going to Memphis.

The most intrigue my aspect of this story is tubby’s Agent made public remarks

You don’t hear that often in the coaching carousel

I will disagree. If you cannot win to expected levels at OSU why will you at UGA. I think at best it is a lateral move from Fox.

Did you read the agent's quotes. His name Lett (?) any way he had the audacity to proclaim that a head coach is not responsible for generating ticket revenue. He actually said it isn't Tubby's problem if attendance decreases.

Tubby should have never left Texas Tech. Although the guy who replaced him, has done something right.

Jefferies just plays on his AAU team. Penny BROUGHT Wiseman from Nashville to Memphis.

The word for weeks was that Jeffries was the more likely of the two to play for Penny at Memphis.

Ohio St was ineligible in Matta's first year. Matta went to 2 Final Fours (including a national runner up), 3 Elite 8's and five Sweet 16's and won 5 Big 10 Regular Season titles and 4 Big 10 tournaments in his remaining 12 seasons at Ohio St. He went to an Elite 8 and made the second round all 3 years at Xavier and made the 2nd round his only year at Butler.

Matta struggled his last two years at OSU, but there is literally no comparison between Matta and Fox.

Has the deed been done yet with Tubby?

    Any chance they're wrong?

Thad Matta at Georgia...I like him as a coach, but something just tells me that's not a great fit.

Matta is Tubby part II. Pretty good coach that does like to recruit anymore.

That could be it. Georgia is a place that won't recruit itself, either. Ohio State does (to some extent).

I honestly thought Tubby had done a heck of a job this year after the mass exodus of star players transferring from last year.

I agree. Thought he did a great job. Memphis is concerned about his recruiting as they should be. On the other hand Penny may be better recruiter I doubt he is half the coach Of Tubby. Big risk in my opinion.

The Lawson brothers were part of the exodus, they promptly got in trouble at Kansas.

Parrish is a Penny Puppet. He did a hatchet job on Tubby and now has the public opinion squarely against Tubby. No matter what the circumstances, it is time for Tubby to step down.
