Assuming we win Saturday are we top five in next week's AP poll?

    We are #8

    Losers this week:

    #2 KU

    #5 Florida lost twice

    #7 Texas A&M lost

We will be #5 or #6

If we don't win by 60 they'll drop us to #9

My first thought is... "who cares?"... even though I do care, but...

I just wanna know if those kids (Monmouth's players) are still doing their sideline antic thang when one of their teammates scores.

I think they might have had dozens of different, some fairly complicated and choreographed, bits that they got a lot of media attention for a couple of years ago.

Some of their skits were pretty funny as I recall.

boss, I'll tell ya what I DO care about and that is our kids playing in Monmouth's territory, at famous MSG, the potential for our surprisingly whiny fanbase at such an early stage in a team's ONE loss season to NOT show up in the force we might imagine for MOST games ensconced in the bright lights of NYC, and how the Youngest of All Wildcat Teams will respond to the challenge, physically and psychologically.

This game, even if Monmouth is supposed to "suck" this year, could actually tell us quite a bit about the mental makeup of this team, or at least how positively that makeup is being formed as we approach the end of 2017 and are soon to look into the face of a HAIRY conference sked looming in 2018.

So many uncertainties. So much to wonder about.

One of my fave reasons to watch college basketball... December, baby. Fun times!

No...win will do little for us

I'm a big defender of Cal's scheduling. I think it's been very good his entire tenure here, and I love the big neutral site games.

That said, I don't understand playing this Monmouth game in NYC. Either play someone good up there, or play the game in Rupp.

Wouldn't it be neat to play St John's in MSG?

Certainly better than Monmouth. I'd rather play a good team, but if you need a game you know you'll win, make it St. John's. We'd win and it would count as a road win. Duke's done that off and on for years.

My theory is for extra exposure in the NYC market for recruiting purposes.

We also no longer have the U**NC game, so perhaps Coach felt this could be a "tough" game as a one-year fill-in because it's the first one that somewhat approximates an unfriendly fan environment for his young team, although it's not a true road venue.

There's some risk, but it's NOT the same as playing an elite program on the road.
