Star Trek visits Mayberry

I did not know this.

I find it interesting, because we have a mix of superb Star Trek fans and The Andy Griffith Show fans. Who knew that the two intertwined this way?

TOS was for sure woefully underfunded, and they had to use a lot of outside sets given the setup of the show (every week stop at a new and different planet). Makes sense they'd re-dress back lot sets they had.

That and more than one episode was based on some kind of "earth from the past gone weird" premise for the planet in question. One was run by gangsters.

City on the Edge of Forever used it to shoot scenes of 1930 Earth. They were transported back from an alien planet.
