Couple of weeks before Labor Day, when he hosted the annual Muscular Dystrophy telethon for so many years.
Rest in peace, Jerry. Thank you for your many years of fundraising and laughs and tears.

That sucks. I never was much of a fan of his but appreciate all he did for Muscular Dystrophy. I have a nephew (actually son of a neice) who has it and can only applaud JL for all the wonderful things he did for those suffering from that dz.

Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been.--David Bowie.
As a kid that's really all I knew him for. I learned about the Rat Pack and his films and such later, but as a little boy back in those days a network affiliate would often run that thing for 24 hours, and with just 3 stations you were bound to watch it. And they had a lot of entertainers and big name people there too.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.
A true icon, who obviously had the kindest of hearts. Rest in peace Jerry, and thanks for the many laughs. For now we'll choose to mourn for the great loss.
My sympathies to his family and friends
“Before I leave I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations,
“I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it.”
