I've kinda forgotten about that "backup" cell phone...question--

Would there be any cheap smart watches that could do this?

a) allow me to insert the SIM card in them so I could use my backup phone as an old-fashioned Dick Tracy phone, BUT,

b) allow me to connect via bluetooth to my "main" phone so that I could read text messages (mainly) on it?

Honestly, expect the quality to be very very very low. That being said, I have never tried one of those devices but strongly suggest you ignore the reviews. There will likely be a lot of crap reviews and paid shrills. FakeSpot can help cut through the clutter some but expect a degree of deception with any of these devices.
