    Linksys EA6900 AC1900 Wireless Router - $80

I ended up with an extra Linksys router (bid on two and won both). It is a refurbished Linksys EA6900 AC1900 router. Since I don't need it and I got a good deal, I will throw it out here at what I paid for it ($80). I will be in Lexington, the weekend of Oct. 17th, if anyone is interested and wants to save on shipping.

    About the router:
    802.11ac - AC1900 speed router
    4x 10/100/1000 Gigabit wired ethernet
1x 10/100/1000 Gigabit wired WAN port (for connecting to cable/dsl modem)
2x USB ports (for file/printer sharing)
Dual Core Arm Cortex-9 processors (running at 800Mhz)
    128MB Flash
256MB Ram (most older routers have 4MB flash and 16MB ram)

I'd jump all over it Pedro but I bought a peplink that has done great for me and it's the only real mission critical thing I have running now.

FWIW I love the peplink. Pricey but it's been good for me. I have an older Hotbrick that's done well, but people seemed to like the peplink better these days so I tried it.
People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back.

Can I use that for something?

I'll ask my son when he gets home. He's in Nashville participating in Vandy Hacks. I don't know what that is, but you guys probably do.

Darrell, I know what it is, but it is way to advanced for my needs. I have had a Linksys WRT54GSV4 router for 15 years and ,knock on wood, it is still performing perfectly. At some point it will be a dinosaur, but until the internet speeds up, it is all I need.

If your internet is faster than 30MBit/sec, due to overhead you likely would benefit from a faster router than an 802.11G. That being said, those routers are tanks, easily hackable, decent power, pretty reliable. My family had multiple of them, I loaded dd-wrt or tomato on every one of them.

It's a home router 802.11ac, so the fastest standards out right now. I have no clue what your current router is, so I can't tell you on that. That being said, the new chromecast is 802.12ac compatible.

If I understand correctly, we have ATT Uverse proprietary router, so I couldn't use. But thanks, really sounds useful.

You CAN use it, you just have to tell ATT to set your router/modem to modem only mode then attach the Linksys router to it. That being said, it is up to you if it is worth the hassle. I have it listed on craigslist in my area, will list it in Lexington as well next week at $100. Anyone who wants it can contact me on here for the $80 price.
