KSR Hall of Fame Game Contest: Kentucky vs. Georgia @ the 2016 SEC Tournament Semis

Play KSR Hall of Fame Game Contest: Kentucky vs. Georgia @ the 2016 SEC Tournament Semifinals:

    1. Predict the Kentucky margin of victory (+) OR loss (-). If you believe that Kentucky will lose, make sure that you make it clearly known with a -- [minus sign], or something else.

    2. Predict the game high scorer, AND the total number of points he will score in the game. NOTE--it does not have to be a Kentucky player for this KSR point.

    3. Over/Under: "10": In Kentucky's only previous meeting with Georgia this year, the Cats mercilessly pounded the Bulldogs in Rupp Arena by a score of 82-48. UK held the Dawgs to a spectacularly low 22% shooting mark from the field in one of UK's best defensive performances of the season. How good was UK's D beyond limiting Georgia's overall shooting? The Bulldogs had 0 blocked shots and 0 steals in the game while Kentucky had 7 blocks and 8 steals. That is a combined margin of +15 that UK had over U of G for those two statistics combined as one number.

How will that play out in today's game? Let's give the Bulldogs a little credit for this game point, imagining that the odds that, say, UK will have a +10 margin over Georgia in combined steals and blocks in this Semifinal SEC Tournament matchup is more likely than the +15 they had earlier in the year at Rupp. Select "Over" (+), "Under" (-), [or "Push" (0)] 10 combined number of blocks and steals that Kentucky will have more than Georgia in the game. Should Georgia actually have MORE combined blocks and steals than UK, for example, say the Bulldogs have a total number of 12 to UK's 10, then the exact correct answer would be "Under, 12". Again, "Over", "Under" +10 margin for UK over U of G in combined blocks and steals for the game.

    4. Revolving Rebounders: In SEC play during this 2016 season, Kentucky has had EIGHT different players lead the team in rebounding in a game. They are Marcus Lee, Alex Poythress, Jamal Murray, Isaiah Briscoe, Derek Willis, Skal Labissiere, Isaac Humphries, and Mychal Mulder. Who will lead the Cats in rebounding vs. Georgia in this SEC Semifinal game and how many total rebounds will that Wildcat have? Just need the UK player's name and how many boards he finishes with.

TB: Free Throw Percentage, in ONE combined number, rounded off to a maximum of one decimal point (for example, an answer of 65.85% shall be rounded up to 65.9%), for Marcus Lee, Charles Matthews, Isaiah Briscoe, and Skal Labissiere.

    1. Predict the Kentucky margin of victory (+) OR loss (-):

Big win for Kentucky today over an extremely hot-shooting, tough, and confident Georgia Bulldog team. The Cats closed in on Georgia's long time lead in the second half, surpassed the Dogs, and slowly built a solid lead themselves, holding it firm late, punching their ticket to the SEC Championship Game on Sunday. Final score was Kentucky 93 Georgia 80 for a 13 point margin of victory.

So who came closest to this result for this game point?

Harlow had a good guess of an 11 point win for UK and kingcat's was equally close, with his pick of UK by 15, but it was Terminus, who had UK "+14" to snag this first game point.

    One point for Terminus.

    Excellent pick, Terminus!

    2. Predict the game high scorer, AND the total number of points he will score in the game:

At one point, it seemed that standout Bulldogs J.J. Frazier (19 points) and Yante Maten (20 points) couldn't miss, but in the end, they were outplayed by the best guard tandem in the nation, Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray.

Tyler finished strong in the second half, notching 25 points, but he was nipped by one by his running mate, Murray leading all scorers with 26 on 8-12 from the field, 3-7 from three, and 7-8 from the line.

Ulis and Murray are always good bets, but let's see who chose Jamal and how close they got...

Lots of close picks in the mid-20's by the KSR crew here. Pappy came close, picking Murray to score 25. Terminus guessed equally well, selecting Murray to go for 27, but it was Padukacat nailing this one with his exactly correct guess of "Murray 26".

    One point for Paduka.

    Nicely done, Paduka!

    3. Over/Under: "10": Select "Over" (+), "Under" (-), [or "Push" (0)] 10 combined number of blocks and steals that Kentucky will have more than Georgia in the game:

Georgia played their butts off today and were far more successful than the first time UK met, hustling for blocks and steals that they didn't get in the regular season match up with the Cats. The Dawgs finished with 5 blocks and 3 steals for a total combined number of 8 for these two defensive stats. Kentucky finished with 5 blocks and 6 steals for a total combined number of 11. So that means UK had 3 more than Georgia for these combined stats. That is 7 less than this Game Contest's "+10" starting point for a UK margin over Georgia for the total of blocks and steals in the game, therefore the exact correct answer is "Under, 7".

Who saw Georgia fighting harder in this game?

kingcat and Krank had solid picks of "Under, 4", but it was Harlow and Darrell KSR both guessing "Under, 5" to bring home this Game Contest point.

One point each to Harlow and Darrell.

    Nice job, guys!

    4. Revolving Rebounders: Who will lead the Cats in rebounding vs. Georgia in this SEC Semifinal game and how many total rebounds will that Wildcat have?

This is another stat for Murray the Kid that continues to be evidence of his hustle and drive. Jamal got 6 big boards vs. Georgia, amidst his great shooting performance, but it was Isaiah Briscoe and Derek Willis, both grabbing 7 rebounds for the game in another of many scrappy performances for these two great team players.

Let's see who picked either of these two Cats and how close they got to predicting the amount of boards they accumulated...

Nobody picked Willis so point goes to "Nobody", who is immediately disqualified as usual.

We had a few pick Jamal, who was close, but only ONE selected co-rebounding leader Isaiah Briscoe and that was Doc, totally nailing this one exactly, correctly guessing "Briscoe with 7".

    One point to Doc.

    Great pick, Doc!

Re: KSR Hall of Fame Game Contest: Kentucky vs. Georgia @ the 2016 SEC Tournament Sem

TB: Free Throw Percentage, in ONE combined number, rounded off to a maximum of one decimal point (for example, an answer of 65.85% shall be rounded up to 65.9%), for Marcus Lee, Charles Matthews, Isaiah Briscoe, and Skal Labissiere:

We have five KSR Game Contestants with one point each... Terminus, Padukacat, Harlow, Darrell KSR, and Doc.

So how'd they do on the ol' TB?

Lee, Matthews, and Labissiere had exactly ZERO free throw attempts, so it's the Isaiah Briscoe show, solo, to determine this tiebreaker. Mr. Briscoe has been doing much better at the line in the last part of the SEC schedule and he did very well against Georgia today, hitting 4 out of 5 from the line, which equals exactly an 80.0% mark for him on his free throws, which is therefore the exact correct answer to the tiebreaker.

Harlow guessed 42%. Terminus did better with a pick of 47%, but it wasn't enough because three of these gents chose 50% or better... Paduka was more confident than some of us, with a gutsy pick of 50%. He was topped by Darrell, who guessed a strong 55.5%, but it was Doc, with a very confident pick of 60% combined FT% for Briscoe, Labissiere, Matthews, and Lee, who wins this tiebreaker and takes home this particular KSR H.O.F. Game Contest Prize.

    Doc wins! Doc wins!

Congrats to everyone who made the TB, but especially a "way to go" to THE one and only Doc!
