Daughter left to go back to NYC after a 10-day trip home. It flew by. Why do vacations and things like this go by so quickly? Seems to completely ignore the laws of time, physics and space.

That is a strong for the first tournament. Is your team the Bowling Green Bandits? It was either them or the O'boro or L'ville team from the listing I saw for 8U teams in tournament play this weekend.

My first AAU basketball tournament we went winless. I remember that well. It helped the players, though, one of whom ended up playing college basketball, another played college soccer. You get better through experiences, and you were fortunate you had success with it, too. Congrats on a great start.

Talent wise, we were not as far off as I expected. We were less consistent than the teams that have been playing a while. Plus, the learning curve of travel ball vs rec league. But I feel better now than I did two weeks ago.

Sorry Dan, I missed this post. We play tomorrow, Saturday at 9:00am and 12:45pm. I don't know anything about the 9:00 am team, but the 12:45 kicked our ass last time. So you might mow your yard or something during that game

All times are central. We play at Buchanon Park, lower fields, in Bowling Green. Pool play and the single elimination tournament starts at 3:15.

I'll be the fat guy in the yellow shirt coaching first. The lady is the head coach. The other fat guy is the husband. Emily will likely play pitcher and lead off. She will be one of the shortest on the field. Ally, my 6 year old might pinch run or get in if the game is out of hand.

Edit: This is the USFL state, so I'm sure the other teams are some of the better 8U teams. While this is our 2nd tournament.

I enjoy watching that age group play ball. Only a few of them understand what is going on unless they are the batter or the catcher, and if one is not a family member fan, then it is easy to laugh at some of the silly stuff they do. My grand daughter played from Tball thru coach pitch, and when it got a little more serious she bailed out.
