Yadi reaches on an error, and the bats have went lame. Too conservative at the plate in a game such as this one.

Bullpen saving the Redbirds bacon. On to the 9th. Swing the bats please
3 up, 3 down. 3 outs to go for the Redbird defense.

I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight.
A case of uneasiness during this game, the Giants are a good team. All good however as the Redbirds win game 1, 6-4. Whew!
It's a "W." Lot more good than not in a game like this.
Still playing with house money, but fun to watch them.
House money can pay handsomely when played properly
Game 2 at 8:07 EST at AT&T park. Carpenter on the hill for the Redbirds, Vogelsang for the Giants.
It would be sweet to steal another one tonight.
They need to really work with Lynn in the spring and off season to develop a good breaking ball to got with his fast ball, once they caught up with it they had no problem, very little movement.
Pen has been outstanding in the playoffs, something I couldn't say during the season. Cards have some good young arms that could be outstanding over the next few years.
Jazy, their starters have been very hit and miss this year. If the games are tight and 3-4 runs are all the production we get, we are in trouble.
StL has healthy bats. Last year and this year. 2 games in the NLDS they were throttled, low scoring, lost the games. Game 5 was a gift from the baseball gods.
Last night, Matheny went two batters too far with Lynn. He has to use the pen early and often unless it's Carpenter or Lohse. We've been playing with fire with the other starters.
I'm hoping beyond hope another series is in our future, but less confident with our pitching than last year.
Birds made some noise, but leave 2 on base. Missed opp there.
Pagan goes yard. Oh those wasted baserunners already looking large now.
Carpenter is not sharp tonight, long inning and fortunate to only give up 1 run.
1-0 Gigantores
Yes!!!! Love it when a pitcher helps his own cause!
1-1 after Carpenter doubles in Kozma and the bottom of the orders produces again.
Carpenter much more settled that inning. Still lacks zip on the heater. On to the 3 rd. 1-1.
Yadi, you are killing me....
1-1 still
Defense playing well behind Carpenter. Still 1-1 going to 4.
Gotta quit wasting base runners.
Bats are getting sleepy. Me too. Hazards of being in a motel room in Hopkinsville Ky...:/
1-1. These kinds of games don't favor the birds on the bat...
Wow. Matheny stayed with a bad situation there. Ughhhhh. Larussa like there...again.
5-1 Giants.
It's rally squirrel time...
Wasted a double by Beltran. 5-1 big guys.
Living on the edge that inning....
Still 5-1 somehow.
Still 5-1. Vogelsong has top shelf stuff tonight.
5-1 to the stretch. We've got nothing for Vogelsong. Maybe the bullpen will serve up some hitable balls.
8th is a Redbird disaster. Poor call on the throw in from Jay, David Freese lets a pop
Up land fair, utility infielder singles in 2 runs.
7-1, still only 1 out.
7-1 on the short end. Stole one from them. Need to hold serve at home now.
Wednesday afternoon in Busch.
