Nope, offensive numbers are not off that much but Molina is the best catcher in the game and keeps that pitching staff together, especially w/o Duncan around any longer.
I'm relying on the catcher in the group for that question. Lot of value to a catcher beyond offensive numbers; even beyond defensive performance, Molina's ability to work with the staff is phenomenal. We have certainly had better bullpen pitching than I ever imagined, and the starting pitching, while somewhat hit or miss, has been more than adequate. A large part of that is probably Molina.
Matheny stated he's never questioned one of Yadi's calls behind the plate this season, not one.
Matheny was a good catcher too, knows of what he speaks.
tonight was the good offensive night. Look at Molina, how often does he come up with big hits all year long. Kinda like Miller in basketball, does it all, is the glue to this team, rarely does a ball get by him, keeps runners very honest and close to the bag which at times can save a run here or there. Throw in what he does with the pitching staff and he is the MVP of this team.
If he could just get us to the 6th. The pen has been soooooo good this year. I wish Lohse was on the mound tonight. No need to burn all that jet fuel back to the West Coast, close em out!
Of course, we start with the Kentucky (18-6) – Florida (10-14) series. But we also want to watch Tennessee (17-7) at Vanderbilt (11-13), Mississippi...
