Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
For those that have twitter, a good person to follow on twitter (for Cardinals fans) is @JoeStrauss.
He just posted this a few minutes ago.
Garcia to be removed from postseason roster, replaced before Wednesday's Game 3. Several teammates furious over situation.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
I don't get warm and fuzzy over Garcia's replacement, Shelby Miller. A weak rotation just got a bit weaker. Depending on the bats more than ever now.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
First pitch today is at 1:07 EST.
Ed Jackson on the hill for the Nats while Chris Carpenter will go for the Redbirds.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
If he can't get the ball over the plate, then get him off the roster.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
Chris Carpenter just laced a double to lead off the top 5th; he's 2-2 now.
Nationals have had 5 LOB, 3 in scoring position though 4.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
Boneheaded baserunning (at least, too cautious). We sacrificed Carpenter to 3rd, then runners on 1st & 3rd with one out, bouncer to 3B, and Carpenter didn't run.
They tried for the double play, and Holliday wasn't running until he realized that a double play would get St. Louis out of the inning (apparently). Nats still didn't turn the double play, but no run scored, and runners still at the corners with 1 out.
Craig at the plate, and strikes out to end the inning.
Let's hope that doesn't come back to haunt the Cardinals. Another run sure would've been nice there. Momentum back to Nationals.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
Ball game 8-0. 2 games without using Motte in closing. We only need 1 of the next 2

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
I don't know why he would say teammates were furious when they didn't know the outcome of his injury and MRI test. Not sure who he is but his assessment imo was way off base.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
Jazy, his assessment wasn't his assessment, just relaying teammates were incensed (his word in the postgame story). Strauss is the Cardinals beat writer for thr Post-Dispatch, and very good.
Here's what he posted on twitter.
Re: Garcia. Teammates irked he would pitch such important game if dubious about shoulder. Others question condition's severity. Developing.

Re: Cardinals vs Nationals
As long as they are scoring 8-10 runs a game, Matheny will look like a genius. That's been the Cardinals MO all year. Motte is a good closer so it's all good when the bats are lively.
I can Understand teammates being miffed.
