    Didn't pull any punches. Obama's intellectual style (psedu-intellectual IMO) played very badly, and rightfully so. In a time of crisis intellectual leaders really don't do well.

    That's true of great men btw. John Quincey Adams was an outstanding Secretary of State and a brilliant man, but he wasn't a strong President b/c his intellectual style doesn't sit well in that chair.

    That smirk is the superiority of the intellectual. It comes off as dismissive, and while he was being dismissive of Romney it looked like he was dismissive of the problems Romney was discussing. Frankly once or twice (like on the deficit) he was being dismissive of the problem. I don't think he sees it as a problem. As we see in the rejection of austerity in France, this school of thought seems to not care a bit about borrowing till you're broke.
