I wonder by what formula they decided on 75%? I guess they just decided that is a "fair" amount.

Ahhhhh........the French........
While I think the French approach is misguided and ultimately doomed to failure, I think it's more intellectually honest than what some are putting forward over here. When you have an unsustainable social welfare system, there's basically 3 ways to deal with it:
--Cut the services in some way (raise the vesting age, lower benefits paid out to enrollees, etc.)
--Raise taxes to deal with the shortfall;
--Put your head in the sand.
I see way too much of #3 in Washington.
U really think players are going to duke without being paid over Kentucky?--Gilbert Arenas, 9/12/19
Will Smith Stunned At Proposed French Tax Rate
Check it out about the 1:26 mark.
Anyone that has any questions about Socialism let this be a good guide to go by. The new Prime Minister of France, run as and got elected as a Socialist. At least he's got a smidgen of honesty.
The Democratic Socialists of America have applauded the French president and his refusal to enact austerity measures. They have some weird reverse mercantile idea that if we just have enough trade barriers the numbers will all work out.
What I do like about European politics is they're pretty honest about them. Socialists call themselves socialists, communists call themselves communists, etc. There's some fudging but nothing like here where both parties encompass a whole range of ideologies and none of them want to admit to being anything but dead center.
They're just digging the hole deeper. Going to be interesting to watch them go the way of Greece in the next 5-10 years.
If I'm sucking off the gov't tit, 75% of somebody else money to fund my life sounds almost fair. 80% sounds fairer and 85% sounds fairest
Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been.--David Bowie.
Saw a stat on the tube last nite that is interesting. Since 1945 the population in the USA has increased by 125%. Government spending has increased 6100% during the same time span.

The move was being called a public relations disaster that highlights the French economy's lack of competitiveness. The French are still reeling over British Prime Minister David Cameron's vow to "roll out the red carpet" for French firms if Hollande followed through on his plan to raise taxes for the wealthy.
What!!!??? there's a thing called "competition"???? People don't have to just do what they're told without responding to incentives???
Wow, this will all be news to the French. Bunch of socialist preening surrender monkeys.
I really liked this comment...........
But beyond the name-calling, the debacle highlighted a very French contradiction: A country that prides itself on producing exorbitantly-priced luxury fashion has tax policies that target the very people rich enough to buy French goods.
