Top 10 UK Players By Position; Pre-Calipari And Then Calipari Era
If I were to pick a 10 man All UK team before Cal and then during Cal, mine would be:
Pre Calipari 1st Team
Center Bill Spivey
PF Dan Issel
SF J. Mashburn
PG Ralph Beard
SG Louie Dampier
2nd Team
Center Alex Groza
PF Cliff Hagan
SF Cotton Nash
PG Kyle Macy
SG Frank Ramsey
**3 HOF players, 3 more that would have been if not for point shaving scandal(s)
Calipari Era 1st Team
Center Anthony Davis
PF Julius Randle
SF MKG
PG John Wall
SG Aaron Harrison
2nd Team
Center Demarcus Cousins
PF Terrence Jones
SF James Young
PG Brandon Knight
SG Doron Lamb
That 2nd five would shoot around 45% from 3...Cousins and Jones would kill people inside.

I think you are short-selling Andrew Harrison. He is going to be the 2nd best PG Cal has had at UK (and I am a HUGE Brandon Knight fan). My list might look like this and I purposefully leave positions out of it to make it easier for me
1st Team:
Demarcus Cousins
Anthony Davis
Julius Randle
MKG
John Wall
2nd Team:
Nerlens Noel
Terrence Jones
Andrew Harrison
Brandon Knight

Doc, if you could have seen Dampier you would have him first all time sg, especially for the eye of talent you have. Just pure

Re: Top 10 UK Players By Position; Pre-Calipari And Then Calipari Era
I can't for the life of me how any of you can pick a kid you have never seen on the floor at Rupp as a best for Cal or any UK team. To say any of them will be better than Lamb, unbelievable. Randle I can kinda understand because of comments from Cousinsand KWalker but he still has to prove it against college players

Wasn't a UK fan back in his day but did see him play for the ky colonels late in his career. Still going to take RexAging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been.--David Bowie.

Re: Top 10 UK Players By Position; Pre-Calipari And Then Calipari Era
I wouldn't put a player on the team until I've seen him play in a UK uniform. Unfortunately that also knocks out any player before 1975 for me...

Re: Top 10 UK Players By Position; Pre-Calipari And Then Calipari Era
Give me these 10 Pre Cal players:
C - Dan Issel, Sam Bowie
PF - Jamal Mashburn, Chuck Hayes
SF - Jack Givens, Tayshaun Prince
SG - Tony Delk, Keith Bogans
PG - Dirk Minniefield, Kyle Macy
I'll take the UK Rick Pitino as the head coach, and IMO, I'll beat ANY combo of 10 Cal players you want. No slam on the players, but I think Rick makes a difference."It's a mere moment in a man's life between an All-Star Game and an Old-Timers Game." - Vin Scully

Those are some really good players. I do like the idea of using two players at each position to fill out a team, especially since so many of them are close for me.
